This position supports Ascend Learning's Safety & Security business segment, comprised of market leading brands that train professionals in EMS, Fire, Insurance, Workplace Safety and other areas. This is a key member of the Segment finance team that interacts across the business to provide insightful analysis and reporting to optimize the financial results of the Segment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical insight on business trends and strategic initiatives; Develop insightful analysis over and above conventional reporting to add value to the business
  • Prepare annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and actual reporting against plan; Drive corrective action planning
  • Develop appropriate reporting/dashboards to provide visibility into capitalization rates, trends, pricing performance and other key business KPIs
  • Support initiatives targeted at financial processes improvement and the implementation of changes to achieve efficiencies and the company's objectives
  • Use business balanced scorecard metrics, billings (revenue) drivers and other key metrics to model scenarios for the business and mitigate risks and/or capture opportunities
  • Partner closely with sales operations to provide accurate billing and revenue forecasts; work to increase granularity of data driven drivers for market and billings visibility.
  • Together with business team, identify and drive cost optimization programs. Visibly track progress and ensure targeted results are attained.
  • Partner closely with Segment accounting team on judgment-based accounting and ensuring appropriate business controls are in place across the business

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive FP&A experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, track and optimize business reporting metrics
  • Experience in technology, software and/or digital learning a plus

Skills & Abilities:

  • Be able to perform a variety of financial activities including planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting
  • Able to perform accurate detailed work while also staying focused on interpreting information within a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated results orientation and drive toward targeted results
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects/deliverables
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative in approach and working style / Builds trusts within the organization
  • Strong Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications essential; database and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI or Tableau) a plus

Office and Travel Requirements

  • Hybrid work approach. Travel less than 10%.
