The Geriatric Medicine program at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a full time Geriatrician to join our dynamic interdisciplinary team including 2 physicians, 2 advanced practice providers, and a dedicated geriatric social worker. Our expert team provides specialty consultation to older adults throughout the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (IFMC) on a variety of medical and surgical services. The team addresses geriatric syndromes and partners with primary teams to deliver high quality patient and family centered care. The team recently launched both a geriatric delirium order panel and care pathway for clinicians. Inova is currently expanding our Age Friendly health system initiative and features a NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders) education program.

Strengths of the program Include: Critical support from institutional leadership based upon repeated demonstration of quality outcomes, highly motivated and high functioning collaborative IDT, respect of Geriatric Medicine across the hospital community, and routine collection of operational data.

This position will provide clinical expertise and mentorship within our team and foster collaborative relationships with other team members across hospital departments to inform excellence in geriatric care. The Geriatric Medicine program is a part of the Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine Division of the Medicine Service line at Inova. Inova is home to a several residency and fellowship programs and faculty academic appointment with University of Virginia is available for medical student education.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participation in daily IDT to optimize clinical integration, efficiency, and effectiveness of service deliver
• Represent Geriatrics in at least one campus initiative/ committee
• Scholarly activity including assistance with educational oversight of rotating learners
• Collaboration in quality initiatives
• Collaborate with hospital and community partners to insure appropriate care and transitions
• Development and maintenance of partnerships in strategic arenas throughout the campus
• Participate in the call schedule.

Additional Requirements:

• Education: Graduate of accredited school Medical School and completion of a ACGME Residency Program
• Experience : fellowship training and board certified or board eligibility in Geriatric Medicine
