Roland Foods’ dedication to providing quality and consistency has made it a leader among food importers and suppliers. The Roland brand is synonymous with quality and authenticity for the consumer and chef alike.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Roland Foods in-house Creative team is looking for an entry-to-mid-level Graphic Designer with food packaging design experience to join our office in New York. In 2021, the Creative team implemented new branding and in 2024 is focusing on finishing packaging redesign of the entire portfolio, working on trade show display design, collateral materials, photoshoots, and supporting all the graphic design needs in support of our Sales and Marketing teams. The Creative team is a team of curious, passionate, hands-on, detailed and dedicated people who will strive for the ideal solutions with creative problem-solving and collaboration. If you like food and design, are willing to learn about specialty foods, and aren’t afraid to taste a wide array of foods, join us!
The Designer will report to the Design Manager and will work on a wide range of project types to build the Brand: ideate concept and design for packaging design; procure props to collaborate with our chefs and food stylist on food plating design for photography; discuss with sales, marketing and the web designer to update the Roland Foods’ website; collaborate with Sales and Marketing to create sell sheets and ads; work on show/event design with cross-functional teams. The designer may also assist with video creation. This is a hands-on position that will require the Designer to be self-motivated and responsible throughout the projects: from gathering necessary project details, brainstorming with cross functional teams, designing artwork, and finding & coordinating with printers/suppliers/comp maker/photographer to ensure the exceptional result.
The ideal candidate should be a highly creative, proactive, and detail-oriented designer who is open minded and comfortable juggling multiple projects. He/she/they will collaborate cross-functionally with multiple internal teams and Roland Foods’ global suppliers to bring projects to realization. The Designer will develop a comprehensive understanding of Roland Foods’ brand position, specialty foods, and sales channel strategies to ensure all output aligns with those objectives. This is truly an opportunity to contribute to the rebranding of an iconic specialty food company and will add great work to your portfolio and work experience and will require a passionate and committed candidate.
All candidates must have graphic design or packaging design degree and must submit a portfolio of packaging and graphic design projects or layout designs. Any applicant without graphic design or packaging design degree will not be considered. A cover letter stating why you would like to work at Roland Foods, what you would like to achieve if working at Roland Foods, would be helpful information for the hiring manager.
This is not a remote position! The candidate must be able to work in our New York office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, or as projects requires.
As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.
