Head of Asia Pacific

The Head of Asia is responsible for leading Gowan Crop Protection's growth strategy across the Asia region, which encompasses multiple country entities (India, China, Japan, Australia, Vietnam) and other regional organizations. This role focuses on driving profitability, optimizing the business structure to match market potential, and building a strong portfolio of proprietary and distribution products. The Head of Asia collaborates closely with global business development, marketing, regulatory, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure cohesive execution of strategies and long-term success in the region.

Role Responsibilities:

• Develop and Implement Regional Strategy: Drive the growth and profitability of Gowan’s business across the Asia region, adjusting the organizational structure to optimize business potential.
•  Oversee Commercial Operations: Manage and guide the Gowan entities in India, China, Japan, Australia, and Vietnam, as well as the area managers operating in other territories. Ensure cohesive execution of strategy, operational excellence, and a motivated and well-informed workforce.
•  Marketing and Development: Oversee the regional marketing and development teams, ensuring product health, pricing, and investment recommendations align with Gowan’s long-term goals. Coordinate with the Global Marketing Manager and in-country marketing personnel to support product development.
•  Collaboration with Global Teams: Work closely with global regulatory, finance, and supply chain teams to align regional and global strategies. Participate in monthly S&OP meetings to influence decisions on inventory, production, and product allocation. Ensure regional budget management and compliance, with treasury needs coordinated with finance.
•  Regulatory Coordination: Ensure product registration efforts in Asia are aligned with Gowan’s global molecule strategy and regulatory requirements.
•  Culture and People Development: Promote Gowan’s values, with a focus on agriculture and talent development. Collaborate with HR to develop careers and train professionals, fostering company vitality and cohesion.
• Advocate for Asia: Represent the Asia region on Gowan’s Senior Leadership Team, ensuring regional agricultural priorities are integrated into the company’s global strategy. Leverage group assets and knowledge to secure the best market position for Gowan in Asia.
•  Financial and Strategic Oversight: Ensure profitable performance and contribute to the long-term strategic planning for the region.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
• MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Experience/Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive experience in agriculture or related industries with a strong commitment to the sector.
• Proven ability to inspire company culture and influence group spirit within the region.
• Strong commercial and/or operations track record, with experience in managing large, multi-country operations.
• Fluency in English required; proficiency in at least one additional language is preferred.
• Ability to think long-term and focus on strategic rather than transactional growth.

Job Expectations/Working Conditions:

• Position based in APAC region with 25%-50% travel to the US and within the Asia region.
• Frequent travel to meet with teams, stakeholders, and partners to oversee operations and strategy execution.
• Ability to work in a global context, managing both local operations and international collaboration.
