Head of Enterprise Risk Management

Job Summary

Avantor is seeking an experienced enterprise risk management professional to lead all aspects of Avantor's enterprise risk management function.

Functional Responsibilities:

• Overseeing and directing Avantor's Enterprise Risk Management Program within the Finance team to include defining Avantor's Risk Management strategy, establishing and maintaining the ERM methodology, framework, and forum to assess risk impacting Avantor's business, building and reinforcing a culture of risk spotting, assessment and mitigation.
• Ensuring clear mitigation strategies for risks with clear assignment of risk and action owner(s) and working with those owners to ensure actions are deployed and mitigations are affecting the desired outcomes.
• Driving the flow of relevant risk information, mitigation efforts and progress towards managing risk across areas of the business interdependency; evaluating risks and escalates risk exposures to the appropriate business leaders.
• Working with the business leaders and cross-functional partners across the company to ensure risk evaluation is included in the business strategy and planning processes and providing input into Avantor's annual audit plan.
• Monitoring and maintaining a set of risk KPls with appropriate reporting to executive leaders.
• Acting as a liaison in support of reporting to Avantor's BOD and Audit Committee.
• Driving the collaboration across functional specific risk teams (e.g., Global Compliance, Internal Audit) to ensure an integrated and comprehensive approach to risk identification, mitigation, and reporting.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in business or JD, plus at least 8 years' experience, including in a large, complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience developing, implementing, and overseeing risk management strategies and operations at a publicly traded company.
• Comfortable working in a company experiencing rapid change and evolution.
• Exceptional communication and project management skills and ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
• High integrity, with a commitment to upholding Avantor's values of innovation, customer centricity, accountability, respect, and excellence.

• Excellent verbal and written business communication skills and ability to impact and influence all levels of an organization to drive risk understanding and management.
• Exceptional problem-solving ability, and analytical and organizational skills to provide balanced risk assessments with attention to detail.
• Strong and effective judgment and ability to present ideas logically.
• Ability to resolve conflict, overcome resistance, and facilitate consensus. Collaborative and influential team player.
• Flexibility to adapt to new company priorities, processes, initiatives, and risk tolerance, and the ability to offer practical, compliance-based solutions.
• Collaborative and culturally sensitive approach necessary for working in a global organization.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities within tight deadlines and prioritize workload in a manner that best serves the needs of the business.
