Job Description

Head of Investor Relations

At NLC, we foster a culture of collaboration and shared purpose, guided by our core values Together, Open, Decisive, and Optimistic (TODO). We believe in valuing every team member's contributions equally and prioritise working together toward common goals, emphasising open communication and a proactive attitude towards hierarchy. Our company thrives on a flat organisational structure where your ideas and contributions matter more than your title. We actively seek individuals who share our commitment to working together to achieve our mission, creating an environment where everyone's voice is heard and respected.

Who are we?

NLC - the European Healthtech Venture Builder - is dedicated to advancing health, by bringing healthcare innovations to the patient.Ā  By using entrepreneurship at scale, our unique NLC approach allows us to find inventions, pair them with entrepreneurial CEOs, build the venture, and empower the new team. We then support them to drive their start-ups from incorporation to exit, emphasising the critical role of attracting investment along the way. As a BCorp, with a proven track record of impacting hundreds of thousands of patients, building 100+ ventures in just eight years, and managing 4 captive funds, we are primed for accelerated growth and impact.

As we grow, the supply of talent must keep pace and critical to our success is an experienced and driven fundraiser, including the follow-up in terms of ongoing investor relations.

Your Role

In your role as fundraiser, including responsibility for investor relations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic vision and securing the necessary funding to realise our ambitious goals. This role requires a relentless dealmaker with a proven history of securing fundraises for multi-family offices or VC funds from institutional investors and (other) family offices. Your seniority and gravitas will be instrumental in building strong relationships with investors/LPs in NLC’s captive investment funds, co-investment partners, and other stakeholders (including Corporate Venture Capital arms) while your exceptional storytelling and persuasive abilities will rally others to join our mission.

Your activities and responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising Leadership: Lead the strategic planning, execution, and management of fundraising initiatives across various funding rounds (for NLC’s captive investment funds (launching a new fund every 2-3 years) and seed/Series A-C financing rounds for NLC’s individual ventures).Ā
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with existing and potential investors, ensuring their alignment with our vision and goals. Leverage your network to expand our investor base and engage with strategic partners in the healthtech industry.
  • Strategic Vision: Collaborate closely with the executive team to refine and articulate NLC’s and NLC’s captive investment funds’ strategic vision, financial goals, and growth plans. Translate these into compelling narratives that resonate with investors and stakeholders.
  • Storytelling and Persuasion: Utilise your exceptional storytelling skills to create impactful presentations, pitches, and communication materials. Present these in a compelling manner to captivate audiences and rally support for our initiatives.
  • Disruptive Thinking: Bring fresh and disruptive perspectives to our fundraising strategies. Think beyond traditional venture capital and private equity models, exploring alternative funding avenues and innovative approaches to secure investment.
  • Captive Fund Model: Fully embrace and champion the captive fund model, understanding its intricacies and advantages. Develop and execute strategies to leverage this model effectively and ensure its successful implementation.
  • Thought Leadership: Establish yourself as a thought leader in early-stage investment and innovation. Participate in industry events, conferences, and forums to share insights, engage with key stakeholders, and promote our company's unique value proposition.

Your ProfileĀ

  • Proven track record of successfully fundraising for multi-family offices or VC funds from institutional investors (e.g. pension funds, insurance companies), family offices, private investors and semi-governmental investors such as local/regional/national (semi-)governmental investment and development organisations (e.g. ROMs in The Netherlands)Ā Ā
  • Extensive experience in investor relations, fundraising, and strategic partnerships (including Corporate Venture Capital arms)
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and present with influence
  • Seniority and gravitas to engage with C-level executives, investors, and stakeholders
  • Creative and disruptive thinker who can challenge conventional norms
  • Strong understanding of institutional investors (e.g. pension funds, insurance companies) and professional family offices, in particular about the way they approach asset allocation, their decision making processes and ways to maintain a long-lasting relationship before they make a first investment as well as service the client relationship after they have made their first investment into NLC
  • Enthusiastic believer in the captive fund model, with a genuine passion for driving its implementation
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing circumstances

We offer

  • A full time pivotal position in our rapidly growing company, with plenty of flexibility to craft a path for your own development
  • A spider-in-the-web position at the heart of pretty much everything offering an opportunity to make an impact on many aspects of our business every day
  • Reporting directly to NLC’s Management Board and working closely with NLC’s captive funds’ investment’ team
  • The opportunity to be part of a company that focuses on improving the lives of millions of patients’ around the world
  • Great personal growth and career opportunities for candidates able to create the next level NLC
  • A lean and positive team culture which we call ā€˜TODO’: Together, Open, Decisive and Optimistic
  • Remuneration is partly equity based - own our joint success!

At NLC, we understand that no one fits every mould perfectly. We value diversity and believe that different perspectives drive innovation. If you're passionate about this role but find yourself thinking, "I don't meet every requirement," we encourage you to apply nonetheless. At the heart of our company, we embrace the principles of belonging, inclusion and diversity. Your unique skills and experiences can enrich our team and contribute to our shared success.
