SUMMARY
The Head of Web Development is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the development, optimization, and maintenance of the company’s web properties. This role combines technical expertise with strategic vision and leadership to ensure our web presence drives business results through high performance, user engagement, and accessibility. This role will be instrumental in establishing and leading a high-performing web development team, driving a collaborative approach to deliver cutting-edge, data-driven solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute the overall web development strategy in alignment with company goals.
• Build and manage a high-performing web development team, including hiring, mentoring, and evaluating team members.
• Stay updated on the latest web development trends, tools, and technologies, applying relevant innovations to enhance our digital presence.
• Lead the development and maintenance of company websites, primarily in WordPress, while integrating custom coding solutions as needed.
• Collaborate with marketing, design, and product teams to create optimized, responsive web pages.
• Ensure all web properties are optimized for speed, accessibility, search engines, cross-browser compatibility and mobile-first.
• Establish and enforce quality assurance processes, ensuring rigorous testing throughout the development lifecycle to deliver error-free, scalable solutions.
• Monitor website performance using analytics tools, provide reports on key metrics, and recommend data-driven improvements.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Extensive experience with WordPress and a strong understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Proficiency in back-end technologies like PHP, Python, and SQL.
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) and other relevant frameworks.
• Strong understanding of web performance optimization, SEO best practices, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, or similar) to track and report website performance.
• Proven ability to manage and lead development teams, including setting priorities, providing mentorship, and managing project timelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on complex projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in web development with a portfolio showcasing diverse projects.
• Experience with Git version control, REST APIs, and web analytics tools.
