Job Description

In Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno, we develop and produce high-tech electron microscopes and spectrometers. Our devices are involved in research of SARS-CoV-2 virus or enable mobile phones to get smaller. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the biggest production site of electron microscopes worldwide, following a tradition over 70 years long. There are many experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical engineering and logistics among us.

What are we passionate about

The TEM Automation teams in Brno are developing automated calibrations, alignments and image processing software for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). Our innovative solutions boosts efficiency in semiconductor labs as well as in our manufacture by automatically calibrating microscope to safe unnecessary human work! We are primarily developing in Python on Windows platform.

• Design and implement algorithms for processing and analysis of electron microscopy images (e.g. segmentations, registrations, frequency and textural analysis), including automated tests
• Cooperation on AI-enabled algorithms, preparation and understating data
• Development of necessary tooling to support SW teams
• Collaboration with SW engineers, physicist, system engineers, application specialists from Brno facility as well as from Netherlands

• Development is in Python 3.10, code is written in PyCharm and running in Anaconda environment
• Source code is stored in our on-premises GitLab, builds are performed in Jenkins and our backlog is in Jira
• To ensure quality, code must by checked via pylint, flake and mypy and reviewed by a senior colleague

• Student of Bachelor or Masters ideally in Information Technology
• Deep knowledge of Python, practical experience with image processing
• Solid communication in English

• Experience with OpenCV, NumPy, scikit-image, Scipy, PyQt, pytest
• Knowledge of C++, C#, MATLAB, HTML, PHP, PyTorch
• Hands-on with AI
• Curiosity about physics and electron microscopy
