Position: Mainframe Storage Engineer

Reports to: Senior Manager - Mainframe Storage & Systems Engineering

Job Description:

The Mainframe Storage Engineer position is a hands-on, client facing role responsible for enforcing policies, procedures / best practices in the Mainframe Storage Environment. This spans the following Mainframe Equipment - IBM DS8886, DS8888F, DS8980F, XIV, TS7770, Brocade FICON switches & Brocade Replication Switches as well as their associated Storage Products & data replication solutions across multiple locations.

Storage Engineer Responsibilities:

• GDPS Metro-Global Mirror Configuration (GEOPARM) and Hyper Swap support
• Design and maintain DFSMS policies and constructs
• Proactively monitor storage pool utilization & adjust as required
• Define GDGs & System Alias'
• Monitoring & Administration of DFHSM
• DFHSM CDS recovery/maintenance/reorgs
• DB2 SLB support (HSM Fast Replication backup)
• Flash Copy support for Maintenance, and Info flash processes (Copy Services Manager)
• IBM Advanced Catalog Management - Catalog Maintenance/Recovery/Backups
• On-going maintenance of Storage maintenance jobs, procedures etc.
• Respond to requests for Storage resource space increases & decreases
• On-going maintenance of system & user data backups
• Perform CA-1 or IBM DFSMSrmm catalog maintenance as required
  • Maintain scratch pools
  • Review & validate tape retention criteria
  • Maintain consistency with Operating System catalogs
• Define, maintain & continue to enhance Disaster Recovery procedures
• CA Allocate or IBM DFSMS Advanced Allocation Manager support
• CA Vantage or IBM Omegamon XE for Storage support

• DS888x LCU, CKD Volume, PAV management using both GUI & DSCLI
• SKLM Encryption Servers & Connectivity to DS888x and XIV
• TS7770 (VTS) Maintain Clusters & Grids

• XIV (z/VM) - LUN Creation, Allocation/Maintenance, FCP Port Tracking, Snapshots

Additional Skills

• IODF Changes for all Mainframe Devices - DASD, TAPE, OSA, zEDC, Consoles, etc.

• Connectivity + Documentation - z14, DS888x, XIV, TS7720, Brocade Switches

• z14 HMC Hardware Management Consoles
• z14 FICON channels, NPIV, OSA, STP Timer, Image Profiles, CPs, Storage, Crypto
• Brocade FICON Switches, Replication Switches, and Network Advisor

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 111,900 - 186,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
