Irrigation Specialist

Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Performs installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Operates power equipment and hand tools to install, maintain and repair irrigation systems and related components including irrigation lines, sprinkler heads, control panels, valves, pumps, etc.
2. Checks system for proper operation and timing.
3. May participate in the design or modification of new or existing systems -- including multi-zone systems.
4. Replaces low voltage wiring as needed.
5. Develops watering schedule for sprinkler system, updating as needed.
6. Monitors and reports grounds condition and water or plant losses due to system malfunction -- and makes necessary adjustments.
7. Performs seasonal maintenance such as system charging and draining.
8. Maintains inventory of related parts and supplies.
9. May lead workers on irrigation projects and work on other grounds related assignments as needed.
10. May perform snow removal tasks including operating snow removal equipment/vehicle.
11. Performs other duties and tasks, as needed.

SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education equivalent to a High School diploma and two years' irrigation installation and maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate equipment such as trenching machines and digging tools and other related grounds/landscape equipment.
• Valid non-commercial driver's license.
• Ability to follow simple written and oral instructions, and to read and follow directions.
• Ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
• Excellent customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills.

COMMENTS
