IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION/NETWORK SERVICES)

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

OR

I have successfully completed 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

OR

I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1.Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include review system administration/network services to identify vulnerabilities, risk and protection needs.
2.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: responds to queries and request from all departments.
3.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include communicate site information to establish and maintain network information guidance and policy.
4.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include maintain server integrity and availability.

In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: troubleshooting network problems such as outages, develop and implement configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs, and serve as network administrator, including responsibility for configuring hubs, switches, and routers, monitoring network performance, performing network diagnostics, analyzing network traffic patterns, and installing network software fixes and upgrades, applying network design and architecture principles and concepts, network protocols, network operation and maintenance concepts and methods, configuration management concepts and practices, and network management tools and remote access technology concepts sufficient to establish connectivity between remote sites.

Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
