Job Description
Datadog is seeking a Director of Marketing to be based in Tokyo, Japan. This role will report to the Sr. Director of APJ Marketing. As Director of Marketing for Japan, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our marketing strategy for the Japan market. We are seeking an individual with a proven track record in strategic field marketing, a passion for technology, and a commitment to exceeding goals - surpassing industry standards - and running a best-in-class field marketing organization.Â

What You’ll Do:
Â
- Lead Japan’s Marketing Strategy: Oversee the development and execution of an integrated marketing strategy that drives demand, builds brand awareness, and supports sales goals across Japan.
- Drive Pipeline Growth: Partner with regional sales teams to create and execute data-driven marketing plans, with a strong focus on events (both proprietary and third-party), digital marketing, and content strategy.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of skilled marketers, cultivating a culture of collaboration and high performance, and ensuring continuous skill development within the team.
- Market Expertise: Stay ahead of local trends, competitor activity, and customer needs in Japan to adapt the global marketing strategy to the Japanese market, ensuring relevance and impact.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Operations, Product, and other teams to align on go-to-market strategies and effectively communicate marketing plans, objectives, and results.
- OKRs & Data-Driven Execution: Set clear OKRs, track KPIs, and use data analysis to continuously optimize marketing campaigns, reporting metrics at regular leadership meetings.
- Event Strategy: Own the strategy for both owned and sponsored events, ensuring impactful representation of Datadog at key industry events in Japan and globally.
- Recruitment Leadership: Collaborate with HR and recruitment teams to build a high-performing marketing team in Japan.

Who You Are:Â
- A leader who consistently applies a growth mindset to execute a multi-touch, multi-channel go-to-market strategy, surpassing both goals and industry standards.
- In depth marketing experience working in the Japan market.
- Team-oriented approach ensures seamless alignment across the organization.Â
- Thrive on data and engage with systems to collect, analyze and share data relative to your programs for pipeline planning.
- 15+ years of relevant field and marketing experience in B2B SaaS marketing to the enterprise in Japan.
- Outstanding organizational skills, ability to follow through, and capable of meeting deadlines while balancing multiple projects and priorities
- Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills
- Experience with CRM (Salesforce), Google Suite, project management and sales enablement workflows.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
