SWIFT - Infrastructure Engineer and Administrator

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position is responsible for administering Northern Trust's SWIFT infrastructure. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the ongoing production health of our SWIFTNet Messaging systems, keeping them current with the latest software releases, and implementing new capabilities in conjunction with ongoing development projects. This position is on a team working with a wide range of business partners, vendors and technology teams. There will be opportunities to interact with other engineering teams to implement solutions on new projects and to assist in further enhancing our capabilities and effectiveness.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

• Experience with the SWIFT Alliance suite of applications is necessary
• Experience with implementing or maintaining SWIFT Services (FIN, Interact and FileAct)
• Working knowledge of SWIFT Customer Security Control Framework
• Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and firewall implementation
• Experience with IT project lifecycle methodologies
• Knowledge of basic computing principals, security protocols and methods
• Excellent problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.

MAJOR DUTIES

1. Planning, coordination and execution of all SWIFT infrastructure maintenance tasks, including patching of the SWIFT Alliance application server components
2. Administration of AMH, AWP, SAA, SAG and SNL
3. Implement new services offered by SWIFT and Market Infrastructures leveraging the SWIFT network
4. Administration of HSM clusters and PKI certificate management.
5. Coordinating hardware platform upgrades and/or replacements with SWIFT vendor and other internal infrastructure support groups
6. Troubleshoot problems and take appropriate corrective action. Will interact with other internal support and engineering teams or vendors during problem resolution
7. Understand SWIFT message standards and business functions and technology needs.

EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to operate well in a fast moving environment and be able to work with highly critical applications.

Must have the ability to quickly learn tools, technologies, and applications/databases. ServiceNow IT service management, messaging middleware, relational and nosql databases, and public cloud offerings are examples.

Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills are needed. Must be able to quickly identify issues in critical situations and resolve them.
