A Brief Overview
Recognized as the technical subject matter expert in engineering and has substantial understanding of techniques, processes and procedures to perform the job and seeks to complete tasks in creative and effective ways. Works on activities of diverse scope requiring minimal interpretation of policies and guidelines to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment, processes, utilities, facilities controls and safety/security systems.

What you will do
- Analyzes preliminary engineering-design concepts of major projects. Uses knowledge of reliability engineering and other technologies to analyze preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering program to achieve reliability objectives. Provides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
- Reviews the design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
- Participates in the final sign-off and commissioning of new equipment installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
- Responsible for professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes:
- o Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
- o Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
- o Assessment of effective asset utilization; remaining useful lifecycle
- Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility the Engineer applies:
- o Data analysis techniques that can include:
- o Statistical Process Control Reliability modeling and prediction Fault Tree Analysis
- o Weibull Tree Analysis
- o Six Sigma (Ga) Methodology
- o Root-Cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
- o Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
- Reviews subcontractors' proposals for reliability program and submits evaluation for decision.
- Reviews engineering specifications, proposing design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements.
- Monitors failure data generated by Enterprise Asset Management System for assets to ascertain potential requirement for process improvement.
- Provides project management of projects as needed following Stanford Health Care Policies and procedures. Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
- Assists in managing the 5- and 10-year capital plans for facilities for Stanford Health Care and creates individual project submissions as needed.
- Solves escalated operational problems and technical issues that field technicians are unable to troubleshoot
- May provide some technical guidance / on-the-job training to less experienced design and engineering and/or maintenance personnel.
- May provide day-to-day process and people oversight, prioritizing weekly schedule and guiding others in the completion of tasks
- May participate in the preparation of the department budget and have budget accountability
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Science degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred: Masters of Science degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
Experience Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant engineering principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards and their application.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD files, 3 D models and sketches.
- Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
- Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
- Know ledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems; Utility and/or Electrical monitoring systems; SCADA systems; and Enterprise Asset Management System (BMS) or Computer Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) systems.
- Familiarity with the interdisciplinary nature of healthcare operations.
