Live Stream Specialist

Position Summary

We are looking for a Live Stream Specialist to deliver live channels and events to various distribution points on time, to spec, and on budget. This position requires good judgment, resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently to a set of published best practices. Reporting to the Manager of Content Operations, this person will be the gatekeeper of channels, using judgment and employing best practices to keep to best-in-class content standards across all the Allen Media Group digital domains.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Live Stream Specialist will be responsible for all content logistics from delivery/ingestion through distribution and expiration of channels on Allen Media Group's digital apps and domains. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Onboarding live and virtual live channels to our domains
• Reporting ad breaks and other relevant information to ad ops and partnering to find the best path to launch
• Honoring tight deadlines and communicating clearly and quickly when there is a risk of missing a launch date
• Thoroughly documenting channel launches, takedowns, and troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot issues with content and escalate problems that you cannot resolve on your own, seeing them through until resolution
• Work with the rest of the team to make processes better and contribute ideas to improve processes and better our department

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

1. Candidate should have experience working with HLS videos and 608/708 captions
2. 2 years experience working at a content processing company or digital network in a technical or operational capacity
3. Workflows in post-production or digital distribution, including knowledge of encoding/transcoding, lifecycle management, and CDNs
4. Experience working in a deadline-driven environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Candidate should be highly organized
• You should enjoy troubleshooting and problem-solving. Don't be afraid to think outside the box when brainstorming solutions.
• Naturally high standards and attention to detail. You should be the sort of person who notices content quality even when you're not working and just hanging out watching TV
• Proficiency with Command Line and Apple HLS Analysis tools
• Familiarity with XML and JSON
• Familiarity with caption standards and file types
• Video encoding standards and best practices
• Basic Cloudfront and Media Tailor knowledge
• Fluency in both English and Spanish is a big plus
• A willingness to be open and vocal when discussing how our department could be made better
• Please be prepared to come to work to get the job done. This is a position driven by deadlines, and those deadlines have high stakes. Evening and weekend shifts are not a constant occurrence but may be required at times.
