- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies and the screen out listed below as described in your resume.
The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF AN MAINTENANCE MECHANIC WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION INCLUDING: 1) Troubleshooting, repairing and installing a variety of industrial systems and equipment such as electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm systems, security monitoring and access systems, closed circuit TV monitor systems, and personal computer systems, etc.; 2) Ensuring work is in compliance with specifications and completed within required time frames; 3) Locating, repairing malfunctions of systems and testing completed work; 4) Utilizing standard test procedures, schematics, test/computer program instructions, technical manuals and technical change directives to complete assignments.

This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
Relocation incentives as described in 5 USC 5753 may be authorized in accordance with applicable regulations. PCS is not authorized.
A 40-hour work week is typical for this position.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Perform shift work.
Work overtime and/or be "called back".
Work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Work at a job site or location other than a permanently assigned location.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. The work may subject employee to long periods of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The work will require lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, may be required to lift or move heavier equipment with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed both inside and outside. The work may subject employee to work outside in bad weather; in work areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 feet or more; and in close quarters. May be occasionally exposed to the possibility of injury from falling, electrical shock, burns, and moving equipment. May be exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises.
A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
