Maintenance Worker

Who May Apply: US Citizens

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. -Ability to perform common Maintenance Worker task including repairing doors, windows; painting buildings; performing some electrical work such as installing light fixtures and outlets; utilizing testing devices to accomplish work - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

To meet the basic eligibility for this position, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below.


Physical Effort:

• The employee makes repairs from ladders, scaffolding, platforms and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions:

• Employee works inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty,dusty, greasy, hot, wet, or cold. May work on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet, or in close quarters such as manholes. Subject to electric shock, cuts and bruises. Subject to possible burns, cuts, and injury from falls.
