The Role:
The Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will support the Associate Director of FP&A and serve as a finance business partner to our complex organization. To be successful in this role, you will have manufacturing background with extensive modeling and reporting experience. This individual will support a broad range of business units in the area of CMC/GMP Manufacturing by enhancing visibility, ownership, and accountability of their budgets. A successful candidate will not be afraid of getting his/her hands on and navigate seamlessly through a variety of tasks and effectively manage changing priorities in a fast-paced, nimble organization.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Periodic Reporting
- Support developing and maintaining of the group monthly financial reporting and analysis packages. Collaborate with Accounting to review and ensure the accuracy of the monthly financials.
- Deliver monthly budget vs. actual results to business units and leadership. Prepare monthly variance analysis of actuals to forecast and budget, investigate and explain any major discrepancies, and understand key business drivers.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated monthly and quarterly financial review presentations and scorecards.
- Coordinate the calculation of the monthly shared services allocation charges.
- Manage financial performance of Base Camp, including revenue projections, KPI development and reporting.
- Budgeting, Forecasting and Long-Range Planning:
- Support the annual budgeting process, as well as quarterly forecast updates and maintaining of the long-range plan for Base Camp sites.
- Partner with business units and collaborate with Accounting to help manage the budget and improve forecasting accuracy, including tracking headcount and CAPEX purchases.
- Work with teams to prepare forecast/plan information for the site including R&D and cost center spending
- Assist the Commercial team in pricing and costing of new proposals and tracking revenue for long term manufacturing contracts.
- Participate in developing strategic analyses to inform the leadership team on capital allocation decisions. Conduct advanced financial modeling to support ad-hoc requests for scenario planning.
- Process Development and Information Systems
- Ensures coordination of projects in Replicon, SAP and Anaplan.
- Instrumental to the architecting of best-in-class FP&A processes that deliver high-quality data and analytics while adapting to a rapidly developing, multi-functional business model.
- Work closely with IT and rest of FP&A team in leveraging system integrations to improve the efficiency and automation of FP&A processes, management reporting and analytics.
- Business Unit Partnership
- Build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders across Base Camp and the rest of the organization.
- Collaborate with a diverse set of cross-functional business units by providing strong customer service, delivering actionable strategic insights, and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Work closely with Supply Chain organization to drive cost savings and KPIs on inventory reporting, expiry etc.
Requirements:
This is typically a role best suited for individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting along with an MBA. It is recommended to have at least 5 years’ experience in a FP&A role in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a high growth environment.
- Exceptional analytical skills, coupled with outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel modeling skills, as well as hands-on experience with financial planning, reporting, and business intelligence tools.
- Advanced Analytical abilities, underscored by a track record of financial modeling, with a preference for expertise in revenue and cost modeling.
- Prior experience in a publicly traded company is preferred, and additional exposure to small private/start-up environments is advantageous.
- A significant plus would be familiarity with manufacturing within the biotech sector, particularly experience in cost accounting.
- Experience working within a multi-entity, shared-services model organization is highly valued.
- Demonstrated capacity to handle extensive datasets in a fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere, while maintaining meticulousness and delivering high-quality analyses.
- An innovative team player who embodies enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to adapt to evolving tasks and priorities as they arise.
