Argus was founded in 1970 and is a privately held UK-registered company. It is owned by employee shareholders, global growth equity firm General Atlantic and Hg, the specialist software and technology services investor. Argus Media is committed to ensuring career and personal growth for all its staff and provides extensive training and career development opportunities, as well as participation in employee-led initiatives, including a women's network.

We report first-hand on what is happening globally in the energy space - from hydrogen to coal, crude oil to green ammonia, carbon markets to wind farms. And we do the same for economically vital markets in agriculture, fertilizers, metals, and chemicals.

We employ almost 500 journalists worldwide and have 29 offices in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, China, Japan, Singapore and North and South America.

What will you be doing?

  • maintain a direct line of communication to Argus editorial staff, representing the interests of external stakeholders and promoting product enhancements (new/amended indexes) as necessary.
  • identify challenges, changes, & opportunities in East of Rockies petroleum product markets, escalating these within the Argus organization as appropriate.
  • develop and execute annual strategic plan to maintain and grow usage of Argus' petroleum product indexes.
  • collaborate with editorial staff to develop new indexes and change existing indexes, in consultation with traders and index users.
  • collaborate with marketing staff and other bd managers to develop and enhance messaging around Argus' petroleum product indexes.

What we're looking for in you?

The ideal candidate will:

  • live in Houston, full-time.
  • have at least 3 years' experience in petroleum product markets, ideally within pricing, risk, or analysis.
  • have a keen interest in commodity markets, the ambition to be great at what they do, and a desire to grow within the organization.

  • be a listener, capable of hearing and understanding the positions of the various parties to a given discussion, both internal and external.
  • have the maturity and organizational skills to manage internal stakeholders in a productive & efficient manner.
  • be comfortable with a varied workload, and the likely need to pivot within an agreed role & strategy as market conditions evolve.
  • communicate very, very clearly over email, over video chat, and in person.
  • stick to a plan that has been agreed with company leadership, ignoring the attraction of their comfort zone or the demands of other departments within Argus.
