Summary:

Market & Competitive Intelligence (MCI) is a combination of researcher, reporter, strategist, consultant, and analyst. This MCI Strategist will scan market, industry, and competitor changes to help the organization understand the potential impact and provide suggestions on how to respond. The team connects with enterprise, Line of Business, and functional leaders to ensure that their market and competitive intelligence needs are addressed.

In this role, you impact the success of the Organization and the Business Strategy department in realizing strategic goals and objectives. The Market & Competitive Intelligence Strategist will also serve as a key connection point for other teams to share competitive intelligence back into the organization. You'll have the opportunity to lead key pieces of work with the support of other team members.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Level I

• Monitors competitors, and report & analyze competitive news including press releases, quarterly reports, and conferences.

• Develops competitor profiles that highlight strategy, strengths and weaknesses, key products, market share, and expected actions.

• Builds new competitive content, including actionable insights to support business strategy and decisions.

• Develops, prepares and analyzes reports with complex analysis and data for management review, and present to various levels of management.

• Analyzes competitor financial statements to determine competitor profit drivers, vulnerabilities, membership trends, etc.

• Works with Research Insights, Product, Actuarial, Sales, and Marketing teams to support internal strategies.

• Uses a combination of data, insights, and analysis to build a holistic view of competitors and the marketplace.

• Regularly present competitive findings to support a growth mindset within the organization.

• Works with regulatory filings and market data to develop market share, demographic, and financial reports to inform enterprise, line of business, and functional strategies

• Creates and administers quarterly reporting process of key competitor financial and membership data.

• Manages the analysis of quarterly competitor financial statements and ensures timely and effective communication of the analysis to enterprise leadership.

• Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct and Leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.

• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.

• Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Level II (in addition to Level I responsibilities)

• Educates key internal stakeholders on the value, opportunities, market expectations, benchmarks and business impacts of competitor moves.

• Participates in critical activities such as strategic planning and thought leadership at a departmental, cross functional and organization level.

• Administers the annual environmental assessment process.

• Manages vendors related to competitive intelligence including, but not limited to, vendor selection, vendor contract negotiations, purchase and contract process management and oversight, vendor implementation and stakeholder training, and ongoing vendor relations and maintenance of business functions.

Level III (in addition to Level II responsibilities)

• Serves as an influencer through business strategy, strategic recommendations and facilitations for all business areas including executive leadership.

• Collaborate in the process that defines metrics of CI and advancement of efforts to evaluate return on investment and impact across enterprise.

• Teaches strategy planning best practices to all levels of the organization, and stays current on best practices, templates, and applications in and out of the health care industry

• Comprehends and communicates business strategy, drives strategic recommendations, and facilitates related implementations.

• Coach and mentor by providing guidance and support to the MCI team, providing leadership to projects and team members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

NOTE:

Level I

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Analytics, Journalism or related field with three (3) years of experience in Business, Marketing or related field required.

• Prior knowledge of health care and health insurance industries preferred.

• Strong Excel skills and able to utilize and manipulate data from multiple sources and public databases.

• Excellent analytical, organizational and relationship building skills.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills with the ability to present data in a clear and concise fashion.

• Ability to work independently and part of a strategic team.

• Ability to think strategically and deal effectively with all levels of management.

• Forward-thinking mindset, comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities and excellent influencing skills.

• Demonstrated thought leadership and ability to serve as an advisor to internal customers.

• Experience managing multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously.

Level II

All qualifications of Level I, as well as the following:

• Bachelor's degree Business, Marketing, Economics, Analytics, Journalism or related field with five (5) years of experience in Business, Marketing or related field. Master's degree preferred.

• Ability to self-educate on trends, training and research, and network with thought leaders in the competitive intelligence and strategy field.

LEVEL III:

All qualifications of Level II, as well as the following:

• Bachelor's degree (Business, Marketing, Economics, Analytics, Journalism, or related field with seven (7) years of experience in in Business, Marketing or related field. Master's degree preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of health care products and industry.

• Proven experience with effective project management, while adapting to shifting workloads and priorities.

• Ability to challenge the status quo and champion change across the organization.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to travel across the enterprise.

• Ability to work in a home office for continuous periods of time for business continuity.
