Role Overview:
The Market Operations Senior Associate will conduct EDPR NA short-term market activities in CAISO, NYISO, ISONE, and Canada wholesale electricity markets; execute asset-backed and prop trading activities in these respective power markets; support the execution of short- and medium-term sales of energy from EDPR NA's growing renewables portfolio; trades bulk power and related commodities in the NA wholesale power markets. Perform complex analysis of risk and return relationships, incorporating both fundamental analysis and probabilistic techniques, to support the recommendation and implementation of power trading strategies that will maximize value in a controlled risk environment.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead GEM US short-term market activities for assets located in CAISO, NYISO, ISONE and Canada (IESO, AESO).
- Recommend and execute day-ahead scheduling as well as virtual trading strategies to maximize return from EDPR NA's portfolio or renewable resources in CAISO and NYISO while controlling the risk.
- Execute bulk power and related commodities transactions in the various NA wholesale power markets, commodity exchanges, and OTC.
- Support the definition and execution of EDPR NA hedging strategy in collaboration with EDPR's Global Risk team and GEM Portfolio Optimization team.
- Support the structuring of complex Power Purchase Agreements by the Origination team, and oversee product delivery.
- Stay updated on the latest regulatory and market rules and anticipate impacts of new regulations on EDPR NA's bottom line.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or related fields; Graduate studies are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in commodity trading, investment management, or relevant energy work.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel and POWER BI.
- Proficient knowledge of SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Power BI.
- Ability to program in Visual Basic, Matlab, or Python is a plus.
- Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving and Strong Communication skills.
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Physical demands & working conditions:
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching while on project sites; ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 pounds
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
