Job Description:
Job Summary: The Manager Network Recall is responsible for the operation of the Central Supply Department, which ensures that movable medical equipment and crash carts are cleaned and distributed to identified areas of the hospital. They also partner with all network departments and employees to ensure product, equipment and pharmaceutical recall alerts are adequately monitored. The Manager Network Recall is also responsible for ensuring, the distribution of product, equipment, and pharmaceutical recall alerts to appropriate areas, and alerts are properly closed in a timely manner.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
- Plans, organizes, supervises and directs the daily activities of the Central Service areas of the Supply Chain department.
- Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures for assigned areas. Establishes and modifies processes to increase department efficiency
- Creates and monitors employee daily work logs and perform weekly audit of work logs to determine and correct inefficiencies in time management.
- Rounds with managers of units with equipment par levels on a monthly basis to ensure customer satisfaction and to resolve equipment related issues. Maintains rounding documentation.
- Promotes safe environment; ensure that all safety standards are followed by employees and create employee awareness.
- Responsible for the review, assimilation, dissemination and management of all recall notifications, including non-ECRI alerts within the network.
- Identifies all principal and alternate persons to be notified of equipment, product, and pharmaceutical recalls, establishing notification parameters and monitoring of ECRI activities and outcomes.
- Establishes parameters and monitoring of recall alert system activities and outcomes.
- Assists in the planning, development and implementation of recall safety policies and activities.
- Provides documentation and training for electronic recall alert system to users as needed.
- Provides additional instructions regarding the management of specific recall alerts.
- Conducts verification of recall alert responses and resolutions within the network.
- Acts as System Administrator for electronic recall alert system; responsible for entering and maintaining information such as user names, resetting forgotten passwords, and establishing system reports and communications.
- Enters recall alerts received by mail, email, or other means, in electronic recall alert system.
- Monitors department receipt of or possession of a recalled product or device. Forwards recall and alert notifications to appropriate department and location within the network; and provides follow-up with all notified staff that have not complied with a recall alert and act as recall liaison between vendor and manufacturer for the network.
- Escalates non-responses to recall alerts to the appropriate authorities within the network.
- Documents all corrective and remediation actions taken by the network for recalled products.
- Generates a weekly report and other reports of all alert notification activities within the network and provides reports to appropriate departmental coordinators and committee(s). Maintains documentation regarding product and device recall alerts including the disposition of recalled products such as repairs, replacements or returns to the manufacturer or vendor.
- Monitors the notification process of patients affected by product recalls including but not limited to medical devices, supplies, and pharmaceuticals.
- Actively promotes teamwork in the department and between departments.
Qualifications:
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- 3 plus years of work experience conducting recall and/or alert related activities (e.g. planned, organized, or coordinated warranty administration; liaised with vendors to manage agreements, etc.).
- 1 plus years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. OR
- 5 plus years of work experience conducting recall and/or alert related activities (e.g. planned, organized, or coordinated warranty administration; liaised with vendors to manage agreements, etc.) will substitute for the required education.
- 1 plus years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience performing healthcare recall specific work.
- Experience with ECRI or other health care products recall alert systems.
