DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
Within the Boston Red Sox Nutrition Department, the focus is fortifying player health, enhancing recovery, and optimizing performance. Our vision is to integrate science and sustenance by crafting customized recommendations, providing comprehensive education and working collaboratively with other performance staff and coaches help players reach their goals. Our team aims to provide the best available quality, quantity and variety for our meals, snacks, and supplements, ensuring peak physical and mental condition.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox are seeking a highly motivated culinary professional to serve as a member of the MLB Performance Staff in providing optimal culinary nutrition within the Player’s Clubhouse at Fenway Park. The Performance Cook will work under the direction of the Executive Chef/Dietitian and collaborate with him alongside other culinary staff for an optimal menu and professional service fitting in the space of a high-performance pro baseball clubhouse environment. The Boston Red Sox Culinary Staff aims to provide fresh, high quality, nutrient-dense meals tailored to our players and staff.

This position begins in March and will continue through the MLB regular season that concludes Sept 30, and will continue work through the postseason as necessary. This role is considered part-time and will not exceed 35 hours in a given week.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for helping the kitchen team prep and execute three meal services a day along with a la carte menu options and/or specials.
- Responsible for helping receive, store, and break down of all orders.
- Responsible for the daily thorough cleaning and proper storage of cookware, dishes, utensils, cooking equipment, kitchen and dining area.
- Responsible for helping with end-of-day tasks such as bussing, running clean service ware, taking out garbage and spent towels, and washing dishes.
- Assist with the preparation and design of menus, with attention and knowledge around food allergies.
- Keep a professional relationship with staff and players, performing all position duties and responsibilities in accordance with Boston Red Sox company standards of practice.

- Ability to establish proper processes for an efficient food service operation.

- Ability to connect with players and team personnel of all backgrounds and cultures to understand individual needs.Â
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3 years of legitimate restaurant experience (provide references). Previous culinary/kitchen management experience helpful.
- Exhibits exceptional attention to detail, high standards of food quality and taste, culinary execution, technique, and presentation.
- Be humble, respectful to culinary teammates, respectful to the current kitchen structure and accountable to the success of the culinary department.
- Strong knowledge of wide types of cuisines popular with MLB athletes. Includes Italian, Asian, Steakhouse, Americana, among others.
- Problem-solving capabilities and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced and at times
- high-pressure environment with high professional standards.
- Collaborative attitude with an emphasis on excellent customer service.
- Discreet, ethical and committed to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
- Comfortable working extended hours for multiple meal services (12+ hours), including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays to coincide with the MLB Regular Season & Postseason home schedule at Fenway Park.
- Knowledge of food safety and infection control procedures, as well as safe food preparation required with a valid Food Handler’s Card/ServSafe Certification.
