Job Description

We are looking for a MLOps Engineer to join the Qualco Centre for Applied Research and Technology (QART).
We at QART are rapidly expanding our activities in Machine Learning and the applications of Deep Neural Networks. In particular, we focus on image processing and computer vision, where we work on data fusion, object identification and labelling, semantic segmentation, and object tracking. We are also actively involved in time-series analysis and signal processing, the handling and visualization of big data sets, and the mathematical modelling of physical systems using digital twins. Future research directions include simulation frameworks using intelligent agents, and UAV swarming and autonomous operations.
A Day in the Life of an MLOps Engineer at Qualco will include:
- Automating and optimizing deployment processes to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery;
- Planning the team structure, activities, and involvement in project management activities;
- Setting up tools and required infrastructure;
- Implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines to streamline the development lifecycle;
- Managing and configuring cloud services to support scalable and secure applications;
- Collaborating with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into production systems;
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to application development, deployment, and operations;
- Creating and maintaining documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures;
- Continuously improving system performance and reliability through proactive monitoring and optimization;
- Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the continued implementation of the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.
What we are looking for
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in a DevOps role.
- A professional level of English.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Azure PaaS services and know how to leverage them for cloud solutions.
- Strong skills in Azure networking, such as configuring virtual networks, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Experience in migrating and transforming existing systems to the cloud using Azure tools and best practices.
- Experience with Azure data storage solutions such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Proficiency in Azure DevOps or (GitHub/Gitlab) and know how to use them for continuous integration, continuous delivery, pipelines, and Git version control.
- Experience in using Infrastructure as Code (ARM/Bicep) and Git source control to provision and deploy cloud resources.
- Automation scripting skills with PowerShell and Azure CLI.
- Proficiency in using MLflow for tracking experiments, managing model lifecycle, and packaging code into reproducible runs.
- Experience in setting up, configuring, and managing Kafka clusters, including Kafka Connect and Kafka Streams.
- Skills in designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines using Airflow, including DAG creation and scheduling.
- Extensive experience in creating, managing, and optimizing Docker images and containers, as well as familiarity with orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus and Grafana is a plus.
- Familiarity with image file storing in Azure and managing large binary files.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to handle complex challenges and issues.
- Team player attitude and willingness to collaborate with others.
- Azure Certification (AZ-104 or AZ-305) would be considered as a plus.
