This role sits on a global QBE Network Operations team, supporting the entire QBE business, giving you about as much exposure as possible. You will work with a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers to ensure services are integrated, delivered, and operated as required.

You will be a part of the Global Network Operations team with teams based in the US, UK, NZ and the Philippines, providing business-as-usual support for network changes, task/requests and incidents, and major incident management.

Responsible for providing tier 2 support for the team in the Philippines on complex issues across the entire company.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices (including but not limited to, Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls)
• Facilitate the resolution of complex technical issues by troubleshooting and collaborating with other IT disciplines
• Support the operational strength of network services by participating in capacity planning, resource management, and performance enhancement activities
• Design, plan and implement LANs and WANs using the latest technology
• Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems related to LANs/WANs
• Conduct throughput analysis, problem-solving, and infrastructure planning
• Participate in various projects intended to continually improve/upgrade network infrastructures
• Follow life-cycle oriented processes and procedures
• Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems
• Participate in matters relating to network lifecycle management and remediation, network device vulnerability management, firmware upgrades and testing and configuration management and end of life (EOL) tracking and planning
• Create and maintain minimum control standards (MCS) documentation
• Contribute to process and document creation for risk control self-assessment (RCSA)
• Maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) and knowledge base (KB) of routine changes, problems, reviews, and updates
• Contribute to low level design (LLD) documentation for new systems, products and services
• Contribute to Project Service Readiness and Testing
• Contribute to network stability by modifying network infrastructure in response to application changes and ensuring the network complies with the service level and licensing agreements

To be considered for this role, it's essential that you hold tertiary education in a technology field or equivalent work experience A desktop or windows infrastructure skill set will not be sufficient. Some specific skills that would make life easier in this role are:

Required Experience • 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Competencies/Skills • Information Security - Awareness - Aware of information security and the security controls that can be used to mitigate security threats within solutions and services.• IT Infrastructure - Practitioner - Builds and configures, administers and supports infrastructure technologies and solutions such as: compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.• Ownership & Initiative - Working - Owns an issue until a new owner has been found or the problem has been mitigated and / or resolved.• Problem Solving - Awareness - Able to investigate problems in systems, processes and services, with an understanding of the level of a problem (e.g. strategic, tactical, operational). Can contribute to the implementation of remedies and preventative measures.• System Design - Working - Translates logical designs into physical designs. Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate. Designs systems characterized by managed levels of risk, manageable business and technical complexity and meaningful impact. Works with well-understood technology and identifies appropriate patterns.• Service Focus - Working - Takes inputs and establishes coherent frameworks that work.• Technical Understanding - Working - Understands core technical concepts related to their role and is able to apply them with guidance.• Troubleshooting & problem resolution - Working - Able to troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology capabilities.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience trouble shooting network and DNS issues in an enterprise environment
• Experience with firewalls (we have multiple vendors so not necessarily a specific one)
• Strong networking skill set in any environment - SME to large corporate.
• Exposure to a Network Operations Centre (NOC) environment

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

• Cisco Certified Network Associate
• Palo Alto certified associate
• Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Preferred Knowledge

• Cisco routing and switching knowledge
• Advanced working knowledge of applications such as ServiceNow, SolarWinds, ThousandEyes
• SD Wan exposure (Meraki, Velocloud)
• Strong working knowledge of multi-protocol data network, routing, switching and routed protocols, including OSPF and BGP
• Basic working knowledge of Python or other programming language
• Intermediate working knowledge of industry best practices and networking design
• Intermediate working knowledge of WAN, SD-WAN, LAN, Data Centre and Wireless technologies
• Intermediate working knowledge of IGP and EGP routing
• Intermediate working knowledge of TCP/IP operations
• Intermediate level knowledge of Palo Alto and Cisco NGN Firewalls
