About this role
This established Mechanical Engineer will be conducting product development activities and studies, executing and analyzing tests, and producing parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will have responsibility for the following in addition to adhoc assignments as needed.
- Development of residential air conditioning machines and/or its components
- Development and validation of thermal system models to develop component requirements and inform design decisions
- Collaborate with lab technicians to complete performance testing, reliability testing and agency testing requirements
- Evaluation of systems for manufacturability and reliability
- Partner with manufacturing to understand and translate design and process engineering requirements into product line design components, subsystems and products
- Makes significant contribution to their team by applying knowledge in their discipline
- Design thermodynamic system or sub system with minimum guidance
- Responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline to meet design and project objectives
- Troubleshoot difficult problems / HVAC system issues
- Participate in product development activities including engineering studies, feasibility studies, cost estimates, implementation of standard and non-standard specifications, drawing board layout and interpretation, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
- Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
- Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
- Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.
- Test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects.
- Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in an Engineering discipline with 3+ years of Engineering experience OR a MA/MS degree in an Engineering discipline with 1+ years of Engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in a Mechanical or Chemical discipline is preferred
- Demonstrated technical skills in engineering
- Understands the fundamentals of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics
- Understands fundamentals of material science
- Understands fundamentals of reliability
- Organized with strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Design of experiments and data analysis technique knowledge
- Proactive and results-driven; thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Self-starter with ability to learn quickly
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Team player and willing to collaborate with others on projects
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences including cross functional team members, senior leaders, global suppliers, and external customers including service managers and technicians.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (such as Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Experience with technical computing; Matlab, Modelica, or Python
