Aventon, a leading player in the electric bicycle and retail industry, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate, contract, and intellectual property law, with a keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. The Paralegal will be responsible for providing support to the company's leadership team by assisting with administrative duties including contract drafting and review, legal research, and maintaining corporate records.
The Role
- Assist with the drafting, review, and negotiation of a variety of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies.
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices to support the legal team's decision-making and advice.
- Maintain and organize corporate records, including minute books, resolutions, and other legal documents.
- Assist with the management and protection of the company's intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Coordinate with external counsel as needed to support the company's legal needs and ensure timely and efficient communication.
- Maintain a tracking system for legal matters, ensuring deadlines are met and tasks are prioritized effectively.
- Assist with compliance matters, including ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, and preparing correspondence.
- Collaborate with various departments within the company to gather information and documentation as needed for legal matters.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant legal developments and industry trends, sharing information with the legal team as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate or associate degree in Paralegal Studies from an accredited program.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in the electric bicycle, retail, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of corporate, contract, and intellectual property law.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel, as well as legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Experience with legal document management software is a plus.
