Position: Finance/Accounting Payroll Specialist 

Classification: Full-time Exempt Position 

Reports to: Finance Controller 

Location: Headquarters in Bozeman, Montana

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Occasional after hours and weekends possible

Regular Job Duties/Core Responsibilities

Payroll Processing and Administration:

  • Process and administer payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy in calculating wages, overtime, deductions, and other payroll-related transactions. This includes managing both hourly and salaried employees, as well as dealing with different pay schedules.

Compliance with State and Federal Regulations:

  • Ensure payroll practices comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, including tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and reporting requirements. This involves staying updated on changes in legislation that may impact payroll processing.

Multi-State Tax Management:

  • Manage and coordinate the accurate calculation, withholding, and remittance of state and local taxes for employees working in different states. This includes understanding and applying various state tax laws and reciprocity agreements.

Benefits and Deductions Administration:

  • Administer and reconcile employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions, ensuring that all deductions are processed correctly and in compliance with legal and company policies.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. 

This ensures the candidate has a strong foundation in financial principles and practices, which are critical for effective payroll management.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. 
  • Proven experience in managing payroll across multiple states, including knowledge of different state tax laws, compliance requirements, and payroll systems. This experience is crucial for handling the complexities of multi-state payroll operations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as Paylocity, Quickbooks, ADP or other industry-standard platforms. The ideal candidate should be able to efficiently manage payroll processes using these tools and be comfortable with any integrations or customizations required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA, ACA, and tax laws. Our ideal candidate can maintain compliance and avoid costly legal issues.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies, interpret data, and make informed decisions. The ability to troubleshoot complex payroll issues, especially in a multi-state context, is critical to ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to speak clearly in small group settings
  • This position will require sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, and bending, as well as using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing
  • This position could be exposed to loud noises, frequent phone conversations, and requires average to above average visual acuity and hearing

Work Environment: 

  • The majority of this job will be spent indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Must be available to travel to other office locations as needed.

  2. Educate and train EMS providers, newbies, and veterans.
  3. Provide novel EMS based clinical staffing solutions in austere environments.

We were founded by a small team of clinicians in 2015 who were tired of seeing good caregivers make bad decisions every day that harmed people simply because they lacked access to realistic, meaningful, timely education in current best practices.
