Our Team & Opportunity

This is a permanent Junior Application Engineer role in the Polari s Team based in Melbourne, Australia . The Polaris program aims to modernize a legacy enterprise investment product system that supports the sourcing, storing, and distribution of Vanguard Investment Product Data. You will contribute to the regional product team by delivering high-quality technical solutions.

What you will do

• Provides entry level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases with direct supervision.

• Translates technical specifications into code for new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to implement tests that support automation.

• Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule.

• P rovides production support , assist troubleshooting and resolving technical issue

• Learns and follows software development methodology . Learns and follows development architecture standards.

• Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Participates in systems analysis activities.

• Learns client business functions and technology needs. Learns Vanguard's tools, technologies, and applications/databases, including those that interface with business area and systems.

• Learns and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures.

• Be on rotation for support during normal working week

• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for

• Minimum of two - three years development work experience

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

• Understanding of multiple IT platforms and languages:

• Hands on experience in and understanding of Python 3.x, Pytest , AWS (SQS/SNS, RDS, EC2, Lambda, CloudFormation, Api Gateway, Glue, Athena) & Okta

• CI/CD: Git/GitHub, Bamboo, Bitbucket

• Demonstrate knowledge in Object Oriented programming.

• Exhibit an interest in uplifting on Investment domain

• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies

• Contribute to the team delivering quality and clean code constantly.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly
