The Principle Scientist is considered technical expert within the company and is responsible for,

Guiding and providing Technical expertise to solve unique and complex problems Communicating difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different view. As technical SME guide project teams when needed. Allocating time and resources efficiently, effectively prioritize, and continually seeking ways to improve individual and corporate efficiency,

This part time position is part of the Cepheid's Government program R&D group and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA. Cepheid is FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant organization. In this role, Principle Scientist will have the opportunity to

• Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in infectious disease field and basic knowledge of related disciplines
• Help Design and develop the unique PCR based product
• Act as a SME for external/Internal collaborators
• Gain knowledge and utilize State of Art best practices and integrate those with project(s)
• Lead others to takes a new perspective using existing solutions to resolve project related issues
• Perform required studies to demonstrate feasibility
• Work independently, but also receive guidance only for most complex problems
• Positively Impact a range of internal and external customers, and other related teams

The essential requirements of the job include

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 8+ years of related work experience

OR

• Master's degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 6+ years of related work experience

OR

• Doctoral degree in Molecular biology/Bioinformatics or related field with 3+ years of related work experience

It would be a plus if associate also possess previous experience in:

• IVD assay development on GeneXpert platform with experience in bacterial/viral assay development
• Applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions
