Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Continual development of knowledge base around the use of Advarra products
  • Compliant with industry and customer security, privacy and confidentiality policies
  • Conduct technical root cause analysis on application and integration issues including but not limited to:

    • Writing and executing queries within the application database
    • Analyzing application codes
    • Recreating customer issues within internal environments
    • Creating and investigating SQL trace files
    • Using performance monitoring tools
  • Provide solutions or escalate issues to appropriate development team
  • Develop SQL scripts to add/modify/delete data as necessary
  • Develop custom reports according to customers' requirements
  • Develop stored procedures and scripts for data migrations
  • Deploy and update customers' Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence using database views and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Perform data exports.
  • Create and maintain internal process documents.
  • Ability to work closely with cross functional teams as well as customers to solve non-trivial problems.
  • Participate in retrospective analysis to identify improvements in process, application functionality and/or tools and utilities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • Understand the architecture and operational flow of web-based applications
  • Comprehension of relational databases and structured data sets
  • Understand data warehouse concepts
  • Solid and deep knowledge of SQL including:

    • Understanding/writing complex queries, DML and DDL in an ad hoc manner
    • SQL performance tuning
  • Proficient with SQL Server extensions: T-SQL, SSMS, SSIS, SQL Server Profiler
  • Experience with object-oriented programming language (C#, VB.NET)
  • Experience with .NET Framework
  • Comfortable using command line tools for Windows
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills including ability to make self-directed progress towards a solution
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate and work issues across functional teams

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Mentor other team members in a variety of operational tasks
  • Actively seeks and initiates improvements in processes, knowledge base and tools
  • Ability to understand, tune/optimize and/or refactor large, complex queries
  • Create, modify, test and document SQL scripts used to add/modify/delete data
  • Self-sufficient in pulling source code, configuring, running and debugging applications
  • Knowledgeable about how and when to escalate high impact or severe issues.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time at stationary workstation.
  • Regularly carry, raise, and lower objects of up to 25 Lbs.
  • Learn and comprehend basic instructions.
  • Focus and attention to tasks and responsibilities.
  • Verbal communication; listening and understanding, responding, and speaking.
