The Company
We’re Tallwave, a digital agency. We’re a curious, competitive group of data-driven marketers, designers, and creative problem solvers who move fast to help our clients achieve their most ambitious goals. We find parity boring, and we’re constantly challenging ourselves to deliver innovative solutions with speed, precision, and impeccable craftsmanship. We dream big, we drive results, and we’ll make a lasting impact on our clients’ businesses.
Our ambitions are too big to leave room for individual egos, and the true measure of our success is what we can accomplish together. Our culture balances individual aspirations and accountability with each other. We value selflessness, humility, and tremendous work ethic. This drives an inspiration and dedication that can be felt across the organization.
The Person
Tallwave is seeking individuals who are a cut above. Their exceptional skill, diverse perspectives, obsession for winning together, and relentless pursuit of continuous self-improvement, both professionally and personally, give them an innate ability to lead, innovate, and inspire. They have well-honed philosophies and points of view in their areas of expertise, they think unconventionally, and their endless curiosity pushes them to constantly explore, learn, improve, and try new things.
Are you someone who embraces an unconventional way of thinking? Do you persevere even when the going gets tough? Are you passionate about teamwork, using a “we” not me mindset? Do you sweat the details and solve problems with thoughtfulness and precision? We are a scrappy, fluid organization and although we’ve been around for over a decade, we operate much like a startup. We are nimble, quick thinkers and are dedicated to finding talent that wants to help us grow the business to new heights. If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you!
The Job
Our Project Management team serves a business-critical function, orchestrating the efforts of our delivery teams with operational excellence to ensure our work is delivered on time and on budget to make a lasting impact on the businesses of our clients.
Tallwave is looking for an experienced Project Manager for the PM team who is passionate about working directly with well-known clients on large scale engagements. A Project Manager at Tallwave can manage 3 to 6 client engagements simultaneously. To be successful, this candidate will be proactive, organized, detail-oriented and bring a positive attitude!
The successful Project Manager candidate will:
- Demonstrate leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
- Find solutions to any challenge or obstacle with confidence and grace.
- Be very comfortable and successful at managing up to all levels of leadership on a project (to include Sr. level staff and Executives).
- Apply lessons learned to future projects and help to create and improve workflows and processes.
- Manage client work ensuring it’s in line with the client’s overall strategy, meeting their business goals, customer goals, and defined KPIs.
- Be a motivated self-starter, taking initiative to self-serve and come up to speed quickly to become a trusted and reliable go-to-person for anyone at Tallwave.
- When needed, own the client relationship in addition to the day-to-day project management duties for a delivery engagement.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of capabilities and resources of the company. You aren’t a subject matter expert in everything we deliver, but you know more than enough to be dangerous and take the place of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a client meeting, if needed and you know where to go to find answers.
- Confidently present complex work on larger scale projects to internal teams and clients.
- Intelligently defend and collaborate on various strategies and solutions in a room full of stakeholders.
- Excel in conflict management -- down, sideways, upward. You have strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
- Manage the above duties with curiosity, creativity, and innovation.
- Collaborate and problem-solve as a first order of business.
- Consistently be improving on your active listening skills, flexing your ability to speak candidly and challenge assumptions with respect and grace.
- Learn to be aware of how your actions and decisions affect your team and our business.
- Be accountable to your teammates.
- Be passionate about learning all you can.
- Participate in key internal meetings, including weekly status updates and planning sessions, and maintain current status using our communication tools.
The Requirements and Qualifications:
- This is the most important one -- while Project Management skills are somewhat transferable across industries, this new hire will need to have worked as an FTE (Full-Time Employee, not a contractor) in an agency setting, ideally a growth company, and MUST have experience with Project Management of our specific service offerings (Design, Development, Content, Search, Analytics, Research and Planning etc.).
- A Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
- PMP Certification (preferred, but not required)
- 5+ years min experience in Project Management, with at least 4 years of direct client-facing experience.
- Has at least 3+ years of experience managing a handful of client engagements simultaneously and has a history of (at least a half dozen accounts) managing Contract Values exceeding $500K.
- Excellent oral/written communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Solutions-focused with an analytical ability to utilize data to make decisions.
- Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- High level of attention to detail required.
- Desire to get things done right.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Moderate-advanced skill in Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, Zoom, Google Drive collaboration.
- Exposure to Jira, FinancialForce, Basecamp, Whiteboard & Workshopping tools (Miro, Mural etc.).
The culture and perks of being a Tallwaver:
• We embrace a maverick attitude. We’re willing to challenge convention and think beyond the ask.
• We are committed to relentless pursuit. We’re curious with a focus on personal growth.
• We value selfless teamwork, demonstrating strong leadership qualities with a knack for collaboration.
• We are thoughtfully rigorous, have a strong work ethic and have strong attention to detail.
• An environment that fosters empathy and compassion for each other and our clients.
• A diverse (and competitive, and hilarious, and sometimes a little crazy) group of coworkers. You know, the kind you actually want to grab a drink with after work.
• Career growth and opportunity. We grow leaders here.
• We recognize the contributions of individuals and teams throughout Tallwave, and we stop to celebrate through Happy hours, on-the-fly high fives, core-values-based awards during our All-Hands Meetings, and Tallwave anniversary awards, to name a few.
• “Lunch & Discuss” sessions, and formal training sessions focused on continuous learning and growth as a team.
• We offer comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and 401(k) plans.
• We offer perks like Tallwave Work Anniversary rewards, peer-to-peer recognition rewards, and a Tallwave Swag Store!
• We provide employer-paid short-term disability and long-term disability plans and life insurance.
• We’re more concerned about how we work than where we work. We offer remote work and office hours flexibility as needed.
• We trust our team -- we have a generous PTO policy. Seriously, did you read about it yet? It’s kind of amazing!
• We are surrounded by badass talent and clients -- our work has been featured in TechCrunch, Forbes, Wired, Product Hunt, and more.
• We’ve been featured on the INC Best Workplaces List, the Phoenix Business Journal Best Places to Work List, and the AZCentral Top Places to Work List.
