OnsiteCollins Aerospace in Uniontown, Ohio is seeking a Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Co-Op to support research and development at Technology and Innovation group of Ice Protection and Water Solutions business unit. Work includes design, build, testing, and documentation of prototype composite aircraft parts, engineered surfaces, and electrothermal ice protection components.Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August 2025 (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity. What You Will Do: As a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Co-Op, you will assist throughout the entire lifecycle of aerospace components, from conceptual design through to certification and ongoing product support. Your expertise will be pivotal in crafting advanced solutions for:

• Water heaters and freeze protection systems
• High-performance water tanks and heated tubes
• Precision-engineered valves, faucets, and drain masts
• Pneumatic valves and de-icers for ice protection
• Elastomers and heated composites tailored for aerospace applications

What You Will Learn:

• Learn about applied research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
• Learn test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects. Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests
• Gain knowledge in research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
• Interest in the design and development of aerospace systems, particularly Potable Water and Ice Protection systems
• Interest in all phases of the product lifecycle, from initial concept to certification and beyond
• Experience preferred in CAD software, simulation tools, and composites
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to innovation

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
