Remote Director Product Management, Technology Stack

As the Director Product Management, Technology Stack, you will be an integral part of the development and delivery of the elluminate® software platform. elluminate is a next generation data integration and analytics cloud platform that enables life sciences organizations to optimize the aggregation, standardization, and analysis of their data throughout the clinical development life cycle. You will work with colleagues in Product Management, Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, Marketing, Customer Success, Customer Services, and Business Development to produce world class solutions that exceed the expectations of users. To do so, you will combine in-depth knowledge of software and database designs along with a deep understanding of clinical trial processes, as well as a great appreciation for user experience (UX) design.

This role serves as a cross-functional leader across R&D and other operational teams to:

• establish and implement product strategy, specifically for the development and implementation of:
  • a metadata repository designed to exploit the elluminate platform and provide unprecedented value to our customers.
  • broad oversight through data strategy governance that is linked throughout the elluminate platform to provide truly differentiating user experiences and comprehensive oversight
• envision, explore, and develop opportunities to leverage synergies across the elluminate platform to provide unique value adding capabilities for our customers,
• create and maintain product development road maps,
• define customer/market-driven technical requirements and specifications,
• define and analyze product success metrics,
• establish a process to understand customer requirements and future market needs,
• work with engineering, sales, and marketing through the product lifecycle

Your day to day:

• Work with all adjacent functions to ensure we have a well-defined plan for how we advance our product
• Maintain an ongoing summary of the competitive landscape and how our current and future product compares and can offer competitive advantage
• Develop and maintain a product roadmap that aligns to current and future customer needs, communicate across all functions
• Collaborate across functions on effective go-to-market strategy, including pricing and positioning
• Gain a deep understanding of unmet customer/market needs; identify approaches to automate and accelerate delivery of solutions addressing clinical development challenges; fill product gaps and generate new ideas/products that grow market share; improve customer experience; and drive revenue growth
• Serve as an internal consultant to and liaison between the Engineering and Product teams to develop solutions that exploit the power the elluminate platform to bring transformational value to our clients
• Assure and oversee translation of product strategy into technical requirements and specifications through consultation with stakeholders, Development Engineering, and SQA
• Assure requirements are defined and documented in user stories and are developed in accordance with Engineering and SQA needs including level of specificity and acceptance criteria
• Develop metrics to assess the success of product features and determine necessary enhancements
• Scope and prioritize product development activities based on business and customer impact
• Provide regular periodic updates to eClinical Solutions stakeholders
• Work closely with the engineering team to deliver quick time-to-market development using optimal resources
• Collaborate with head of elluminate services on implementation initiatives such as training and efficient client implementations
• Engage with technology partners at a strategic level to ensure efficient collaboration
• Support pre-sales activities and customer-facing initiatives with prospects and key customers
• Ensure compliance with eClinical Solutions and industry quality standards, regulations, guidelines and procedures
• Collaborate with marketing on product positioning, technical white papers, and marketing collateral
• Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding of the product
• Assure production of product documentation and associated materials such as online Help content, explanatory videos, and Release Notes that support customer adoption
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or higher degree in a relevant discipline such as Information Science, Human Computer Interaction, or Data Science plus related on the job experience preferred
• MBA is a plus
• Minimum of 12 years in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry or equivalent IT consulting role preferred
• Extensive knowledge of clinical trial processes, encompassing activities that fall under the remit of various functional units such as: Clinical Operations, Data Management, Biostatistics, Medical Writing, Regulatory Affairs, and Pharmacovigilance
• Minimum of 5 years of programming experience supporting clinical trials preferred
• Minimum of 5 years product management experience providing direction to meet and exceed market needs; with proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle preferred
• Must have a technical background and in-depth knowledge of the life sciences marketplace, technology, and vendors
• Proven ability to develop product strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
• Excellent strategic management skills including the ability to design and write business plans
• Thorough understanding of software design principles and practices
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts, data modeling and design
• Understanding of graph databases is desirable
• Experience with metadata driven and code generation driven solutions for complex problems
• Experience working with metadata repositories and ontologies
• Working knowledge of AI/ML techniques and applications
• Strong software development lifecycle (SDLC) experience in an Agile environment
• Understanding of regulations that drive validation requirements (e.g., 21CFR11, ICH E6R2)
• Proven ability to work independently and with technical team members (Start-Up environment experience is a plus)
• Proven ability to work with a distributed team including remote members
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to manage relationship with third party vendors and work effectively across international organizational boundaries
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong understanding of data and analytics solutions
• Proven software development skills using languages such as SQL, C#, HTML, CSS
• Experience with Agile development
• Experience with enterprise software
• Familiarity with SQL databases
• Experience with reporting/visualization tools (e.g., Qlik, Tableau, Spotfire)
• Experience with commonly used programming languages used in processing clinical trials (e.g., SAS, R, Python)
