Your New Role...
The Scenic Carpenter is responsible for managing daily scenic operations across CNN studios, overseeing studio maintenance, and managing warehouse inventory, including props, furniture, and scenic materials. This role works closely with Scenic Project Managers to coordinate the fabrication, shipping, and receiving of materials and to provide on-site support for remote location shoots.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Construction Coordinator: Collaborate with scenic shops to ensure adherence to design guidelines provided by Scenic Project Managers.
- Scenic Charge: Support Studio Operations with scenic set-up and maintenance.
- Certified Forklift Operator: Handle materials safely within a warehouse setting.
- Stage Carpenter: Build and fabricate scenic elements essential to production quality.
- Painter/Set Decorator: Provide painting and decorative finishes for set components.
- Warehouse Manager: Maintain and organize scenic materials and props inventory.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: 4+ years in live broadcast environments, supporting both studio and remote location shoots.
- Fabrication & Installation: 7+ years in scenic fabrication and installation.
- Management Skills: Strong ability to manage personnel, materials, and scheduling.
- Communication: Ability to convey objectives clearly and work well under pressure.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in constructing and installing theatrical flats.
- Ability to interpret and work from scale drawings and elevations; CAD skills are a plus.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools is essential.
- Experience in guiding union/nonunion crews for hands-on or hands-off projects.
- Familiarity to work in a live production environment is required.
- Metal working and welding skills are a bonus

- Customer Service: Strong client relations skills from warehouse loading dock to on-set.
- Flexibility: Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols for handling equipment and gear.
- Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and strong work ethic.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication
- Multitasking: Capable of organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks.
- Growth Mindset: Eager to learn and take on new responsibilities as assigned.
