Senior Analytical Engineer

Job Description Summary

Develops simulation models such as finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and other computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools.Uses models to evaluate product performance, identify risks, and provide design recommendations through design optimization studies in order to ensure product meets customer specifications. Projects are complex, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts.Improves current and develops new analytical modeling methodologies and tools to best support new product development. Communicates model results to both internal and external customers.

Job Description

• Perform structural stress and fatigue CAE analysis of AAM drivetrain system/components, and use the analysis results to provide guidance to improve structural design validation for current programs and future products.
• Perform passenger car PTU, RDM & eDrive housing topology optimization to improve the stiffness and NVH target while reducing the total mass, improving the overall fuel economy of AAM products.
• Perform driveline system NVH thermal sensitivity through driveline system dynamics and bearing dynamics to improve the NVH robustness of AAM drivetrain products such as PTU, RDM & Drive.
• Perform bolt joint sealing and bolt slippage performance analysis of AAM drivetrain products with various gasket designs and seal strategies.
• Perform PTU, RDM & eDrive assembly mobility analysis to improve AAM driveline products NVH performance;

Required Skills and Education

• Master degrees in mechanical engineering with two years experiences of automotive industry finite element analysis (Ph. D. preferred)
• Nonlinear stress and fatigue analysis of drivetrain components using Hyperworks, Abaqus, Nastran etc. software
• Bolt joint sealing and bolt slippage performance analysis of powertrain system under complex loading and thermal conditions
• Topology optimization analysis of powertrain components using Optistruct software
• Mobility and modal frequency analysis of drivetrain system using Nastran
• Expertise in the areas of solid mechanics, numerical analysis, fatigue, fracture mechanics and optimization methods
