Overview:

We are looking for a Semantic Data Product Engineer who will be a key member of the Semantic Data Products team in the Research IT Data vertical. The candidate will work at the intersection of domain knowledge and AI, leveraging their understanding of semantic technologies and semantic modelling principles to create semantic links and definitions between research data product in our existing research data platform. This includes the background that led to the collection of the data, and their intended uses. The role will also involve using Python to automate and systematize the link-creation process, apply prompt engineering techniques, and explore the use of AI agents for tasks such as processing research papers, running web searches, and summarizing key concepts.

These semantic data products will be used to augment our existing research data products with the necessary details for training machine learning models and creating decision supporting data analysis dashboards.

Responsibilities:

• Develop semantic data models against R&D business processes.
• Create Semantic Data Products by populating semantic models with instance data.
• Develop methods of efficiently accessing data within the semantic data products.
• Develop techniques for asking questions about the data within these data products.
• Apply state-of-the-art methods of gaining knowledge and insights from R&D data products.
• Continue to develop expertise in semantic data theory, tools, and techniques
• Automate and systematize the link-creation process using Python and prompt engineering techniques
• Use AI agents to perform tasks such as processing research papers, running web searches, and summarizing key concepts.

Qualifications:

• Strong data, data modeling, and data consumption skills, in particular with AWS tools like Glue & Athena & DataZone.
• A thorough knowledge of findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable data principles.
• Scholarly training in semantic data theory and application
• Strong semantic data access skills, including a thorough knowledge of SPARQL query language
• An in-depth knowledge of the python programming language
• A strong proficiency with semantic data modeling tools, such as TopBraid EDG, SciBite or Protégé

• Experience with semantic data visualization tools and methods, including the GraphDB application and multiple python libraries used to visualize data modeled semantically

• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• The ability to work independently
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Desire for self improvement and continuous learning
