Job Description

We are seeking a Database administrator with expert level knowledge in SQL - especially MSSQL. The successful candidate will need to work with the rest of the DBA team to design
and implement database strategies for large-scale projects, develop and maintain very large and high availability databases, but also its documentation, and implement and manage robust disaster recovery plans to ensure continuity.

We are looking for an excellent communicator, with seriously good MSSQL server experience. This is a senior level DBA role on mission critical systems running multi-terabyte databases that contain billions of records and thousands of queries, procedures and functions.

What you will do…

• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database performance for mission-critical applications
• Rigorously monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database issues to ensure optimal system performance
• Execute and manage critical database backups, restores, and recovery models
• Implement and maintain stringent database access and security protocols
• Conduct comprehensive database performance tuning and maintenance to maximize efficiency
• Oversee and execute database installations and upgrades with precision and minimal downtime
• Design and implement robust database replication strategies to ensure data consistency across systems
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of standard processes

Qualifications

• Demonstrable mastery of SQL database design and maintenance principles, particularly MSSQL
• In-depth expertise with SQL Server high availability configurations and provisioning techniques
• Proven track record of successfully managing mission-critical and highly complex multi-terabyte database environments
• Comprehensive understanding of security protocols and database maintenance, including advanced monitoring techniques, troubleshooting methodologies, and issue resolution strategies
• Extensive hands-on experience with critical database operations, including but not limited to:
  • Implementing and managing robust database backup, restore, and recovery models
  • Enforcing database access and security measures
  • Executing advanced database performance tuning and maintenance procedures
  • Conducting flawless database installations and upgrades with minimal system disruption
  • Designing and implementing sophisticated database replication strategies
• Proven experience with PostgreSQL databases
• Experience with RDS on AWS
• Experience with Git, publishing code, code versioning, branching, etc.

Bonus points if you have

• Experience with Databricks is an advantage
• Relevant industry qualifications
• Current blog/public content in the field
