Job Description

Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) is a global semiconductor leader that bridges the physical and digital worlds to enable breakthroughs at the Intelligent Edge. ADI combines analog, digital, and software technologies into solutions that help drive advancements in digitized factories, mobility, and digital healthcare, combat climate change, and reliably connect humans and the world. With revenue of more than $12 billion in FY22 and approximately 25,000 people globally working alongside 125,000 global customers, ADI ensures today's innovators stay Ahead of What's Possible.

The Advanced Data Converter Group is looking for a Digital Test Engineer to lead post-silicon IC digital test development and infrastructure for our latest, breakthrough RF data converter and transceiver products. Our Product Line utilizes cutting-edge CMOS process technologies which require state-of-the-art digital test techniques to screen for defects and process-related effects. Our technology is designed primarily into high-reliability and communication applications and our customers expect exceptional quality. The digital content of these products is growing quickly and includes processors and highly programmable Digitally-Assisted-Analog data paths. These system-on-a-chip designs requiring understanding of the IC-ATE interaction from multiple perspectives: chip design, firmware and software/APIs, and tester resources and operating systems.

The Digital Test Engineer, as a lead member of the development team, will lead in the planning and development of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) strategies to ensure customer quality requirements in a cost-effective manner. The test engineer will work closely with the design, design verification, and product engineering groups to conceive and implement tests covering the digital content of our converters. At its core, the job consists of creating tests to be included in production, qualification and characterization test programs. To achieve this, the test engineer must work with the Design and Systems/Applications teams to develop and implement a Design for Test plan, create and simulate functional tests in the Design Verification environment, translate simulation output into Automatic Test Equipment format and verify that those tests are working properly on ATE. In addition, the test engineer will be able to port design verification and applications software to enable protocol access/testing and device configuration.

The successful candidate will have a BS/MS In EE or CSE with at least 5-15+ years of test experience and have the following knowledge/skills:

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate as a functional leader in a multi-disciplined engineering team in solving engineering product development challenges.
  • Collaborate with other functional groups including Design, Applications, Systems Engineering, Marketing, and Manufacturing.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to the Product and Test Engineering (PTE) product development team.
  • Lead the creation of digital test plans, development schedules, and planning of resources from product tapeout to Release to Production.
  • Guide the Test Engineering team's validation and debug of new Integrated Circuit (IC) products.
  • Lead the test strategy and develop innovative solutions to meet customer quality expectations.
  • Specify Design for Test (DFT) features in collaboration with the Design team during new product development.
  • Develop digital functional and parametric tests for new products using leading edge Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
  • Simulate Verilog test cases and translate waveforms to ATE for IC debug and manufacturing test.
  • Plan and implement automation strategies for electrical characterization of all product datasheet parameters.
  • Become proficient in all aspects of IC functionality, including internal circuit operation of the device and board level system/circuit interface details.
  • Design and release hardware for characterization and volume manufacturing test.
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability to ensure successful product introduction and volume ramp.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSEE and 6 years integrated circuit or system design, test, or applications development experience
  • Experience in electrical circuit analysis and debug
  • Experience in electrical simulation environments (for example Verilog, LTSpice, etc)
  • Software programing experience (for example C/C++, python, etc) and familiar with version control and CICD (Git/SVN and Jenkins/GoCD)
  • In-depth Experience with data analysis tools including Microsoft Excel, JMP, Exensio and/or similar tools
  • Proficient communication skills and content creation using Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills
  • Strong team player within diverse multi-discipline environments

Desirable Qualifications

  • Wide-ranging knowledge of IC digital test principals, especially functional testing, parametric testing, scan and BIST
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Yield analysis and improvement experience with high volume IC products
  • Experience developing and debugging tests on Advantest, Teradyne, or similar ATE, with a focus on Advantest V93000 ATE equipment and SmarTest 8 software
  • Experience developing digital DC and AC characterization tests for the ATE
  • Experience performing parametric measurement and characterization on the ATE
  • Demonstrated track record of success developing and releasing complex semiconductor IC products to production
  • MSEE and up to 15+ years experience with digital and ATE test development
