Job Description
The Senior Director of Global Engineering will create the architecture, design and strategic vision of Engineering workflow, initiatives, and product development across the Spiers New Technologies (EV Battery Lifecycle Management) enterprise. This individual is responsible for ensuring that business priorities related to sales, production, and engineering are aligned to provide consistent and predictable outcomes for successful customer service and sales. The Senior Director will work closely with all key stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, creating goals, milestones, and best practices to ensure high performance and service delivery from the Engineering organization, across all geographies
The leader will have a passion for delivering results and will build an environment (Culture) of trust and high-performance within the Engineering organization. This individual will foster an atmosphere of healthy collaboration worldwide that will lead to successful execution of team priorities, goals tasks, quality, excellence, and growth.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Synchronize the priorities of the Engineering organization across the enterprise. Own the alignment between Engineering /production/product management as it relates to sales, business development and customer success to execute on our vision and roadmap.
- Create goals and prioritizations for the global teams that will drive the execution of work.
- Create standardization of services; ensure reliability and scalability in an ever-evolving environment.
- Staff to provide flexible work capacity across different functional areas of engineering.
- Provide constant review of processes with engineering leadership globally to generate change as needed, while ensuring consistency across the enterprise.
- Work closely with other senior leadership on continuous process improvement and organizational change to support change for delivery.
- Work with engineering leadership to appropriately allocate resources as needed. Formulate and communicate mitigation strategies for long running projects, or projects where risk is high.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders to achieve desired delivery outcomes and to meet desired timelines on budget and scope.
- Ensure that teams have efficient tools to accomplish work goals; ensure reliability and scalability of the organization's infrastructure.
- Build consensus and agreement on solution design and when to employ MVP - minimum viable product standards.
- Implement effective life-cycle management to drive system & technology consolidation and keep footprint manageable and cost-effective.
- Provide strong leadership with a focus on attracting, motivating, developing best-in-class talent worldwide. Build high performing teams. Ensure team are engaged and development opportunities are executed. Mentor, teach and train to develop future leaders.
- Build an engaged and committed culture to diversity, inclusion, equity, and results.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of relevant engineering experience required with bachelor's degree or 16 years of equivalent experience required without a college degree; Or master's degree with 10 years of experience.
- 7+ years of experience in a people leadership role.
- Experience leading large enterprise teams/groups professionals and managing operations in a large-scale, distributed, consumer-facing organization.
- Experience managing budgets ($20 m+) and business planning.
- Previous experience developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan to create and integrate products.
- Superior communications and interpersonal skills to clearly articulate vision and objectives, and to liaise effectively with leadership and team members to create buy-in and drive execution.
- Ability to converse and translate complex engineering topics into layman terms.
- Ability to drive a strong strategic and technical point of view that challenges status quo for preferred outcomes.
- Strong experience in managing a transformative business in a global shared service environment.
- Experience building a values-based culture and an engaged workforce.
- Up to 75% travel.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- BS/BA degree in related discipline with advanced degree preferred.
- Six sigma certification, or other process improvement standardization certification would be a plus
- Demonstrated executive leadership through periods of organizational change, as well as team management through dramatic growth, transformation, and development.
- Experience managing high-performance teams in a post-acquisition or startup environment. Strong customer orientation with a proven client-relationship background.
