Job Description

Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.

Tecovas is looking for a Sr Director, Visual Experience to create a visual experience strategy and framework that will continue to elevate the Tecovas store experience through brand storytelling and regional relevance. Reporting directly to the SVP, Retail, you will create visual experiences in stores that bring to life our products and campaigns through an authentically western lens.

This position is based out of Austin, TX and it is preferred for you to reside in Austin.  Working from home will be considered so don’t let that discourage you from applying if you feel you are a perfect fit.

What you’ll do:

  • As our retail channel grows to 50+ stores in the next few years, the Sr. Director of Visual Experience is responsible for creating visual merchandising strategies both in-season and pre-season for all store types that drive brand awareness, traffic, and conversion.
  • Responsible for all in store fixtures and store displays to support seasonal products, full sku counts, and marketing campaigns.
  • The position will build an organization that is ready to support the growth and elevation of our retail store experience by creating robust pre-season plans, ensuring procurement, sourcing of cost effective VM materials, and execution of in-season is thorough and well planned for sell through.
  • As a commercial support function for the Tecovas creative and product teams, the importance of collaboration, communication, and cohesion in the Concept to Consumer process will be critical to the success of this position.
  • With the consumers expectations of a more seamless navigation between online to offline. This position will work cross-functionally to activate initiatives that connect the in-store and digital experience, creating a cohesive brand message for the customer.
  • Partners with eComm, Merchandising, Marketing, and Planning teams to ensure brand consistency while addressing product assortment variances and individual store elements.
  • This position will be responsible for each new store design layout and existing store refits in partnership with the Sr Director of store development.
  • Will be responsible for managing new store opening timelines and visual merchandising readiness.

Experience we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience leading remote teams with 5+ years leading people.
  • 15+ years of visual merchandising experience in multi-channel retailers.
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills.
  • Experience building and managing budgets for multi unit VM programs.
  • Familiarity with what it takes to build a Brand. Recognizing the need to execute at all levels without a full ‘team’ to do the work.
  • Understanding of Western design and influence.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Bonus points for specialty footwear experience.

What you bring to the table:

  • You are an effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You know how to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • You have the ability and willingness to operate both at a strategic and tactical level.
  • You can ensure a high standard of creativity and execution is delivered consistently by your team.
  • You have a proven track record of success in leadership skills.
  • You possess a high level of emotional intelligence with the ability to self-direct, manage, and develop your team.
  • You show a high degree of integrity with the ability to handle confidential and sometimes highly sensitive matters in the appropriate manner.

Full Time Benefits & Perks:

  • We offer insurance plans that pay 99% of your health premium coverage and 100% of your dental & vision insurance coverage for your family/dependents
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Corporate wellness program
  • Competitive salary
  • Generous employee discounts!
