Position Description
The Senior Financial Analyst will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive financial models that guide strategic decision-making and ensure the financial viability of new and existing greenhouse locations. Need to possess a deep understanding of financial analysis, modeling techniques, and production or manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
Financial Modeling and Analysis:
- Develop robust financial models to assess the feasibility, profitability, and potential risks of new and existing greenhouse locations.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including revenue projections, cost estimations, cash flow forecasts, and return on investment calculations.
- Incorporate sensitivity analyses and scenario planning to assess various market conditions and potential outcomes.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, engineering, sales, and marketing, to gather relevant data and insights required for accurate financial modeling.
- Communicate complex financial concepts and insights effectively to non-financial stakeholders, guiding them through the rationale behind the models and outcomes.
Assessment of Capital Expenditures:
- Evaluate and quantify capital expenditure requirements with engineering and operations, considering factors such as equipment, facilities, infrastructure, and operational startup costs.
- Analyze the optimal allocation of resources to maximize efficiency and return on investment.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Identify potential financial and operational risks associated with new projects.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and incorporate risk factors into financial models.
Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of finance experience or a related analytical field.
- Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and decisions.
- Knowledge of full value chain with particular emphasis on manufacturing/production processes, supply chain dynamics, and operational considerations.
- Advanced Excel skills required (Index & Match, Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, Sumifs, etc.)
- ERP System knowledge required (Oracle NetSuite preferred.)
- Ability to Influence business decisions with concrete financial support.
- Experience working collaboratively with Operations, Sales, Marketing, Engineering.
Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Knowledge of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) or greenhouse operations.
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards.)
- Familiarity with cost accounting.
- Experience creating PowerPoint presentations suitable for executive team.
- Familiarity with valuation techniques.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
Educational Requirements
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science.)
