AMP is looking for a Senior Product Manager for development of our automated waste processing infrastructure. This person can be Remote in the United States.

As a member of a small, high-agency team, you will be responsible for working across the company and market to help design our strategy, sell our products, and scale the business. AMP is a highly collaborative R&D organization, operating in a unique domain, and this role is expected to work closely with engineering and operations to iteratively develop products, help design facilities, drive execution of large asset development, develop our growth strategy, and design the product roadmap. The right hire is a high-slope learner with an interest in clean energy systems, climate negative infrastructure, and waste. Waste is a complex industry, and we’re first and foremost looking for high-slope learners who can also lead teams through ambiguity with focus. A successful hire will be instrumental in establishing a fully automated factory of the future for waste valorization. This unique role can have an outsized impact in changing how society handles its waste, and create significant climate and ecological impact on an international scale.

As our Product Manager, you will work to:

Act as Product Owner

  • Champion the development, launch, continuous improvement, and expansion of the AMP ONE facility suite through product development lifecycle releases, as well as collaboration throughout the organization and externally with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Write product requirement documents (PRDs), develop and prioritize features, and work closely with Engineering and Operations to assess feasibility, adjust scope, and schedule development.
  • Effectively manage the product roadmap across both short and long-term feature development and multiple complex projects in a hybrid hardware-software development environment, reprioritizing product backlogs as necessary. While AMP is interested in a more software-focused hire, we are open to candidates from either background.
  • Help manage and implement AMP’s R&D strategy, including new technology integration and grant applications and programs. AMP has 4 active DOE awards and multiple exciting collaborations to establish the future of waste.

Ensure Product-Market Fit

  • Develop strong understanding of market and customer needs through customer visits and interviews. Understand customer segmentation and use cases. Evangelize the customer, and drive company-wide understanding of market and customer context. Synthesize these findings into new ways to establish project models that profitably direct waste resources into carbon-negative products, biofuels, carbon removal, and more.
  • Understand AMP’s strategic and competitive position, and expand our understanding of the market. Use this information to build data-driven goals, metrics, and roadmaps.

Foster Cross-Functional Partnerships

  • Clearly communicate roadmaps, priorities, experiments and decisions across a wide spectrum of audiences from partner teams to executive levels
  • Work across teams to ensure new product features and benefits are clearly communicated to customers
  • Educate and support all areas of the organization including Sales, Support, and Services - integrate these teams to effectively design assets, and efficiently iteratively improve them.

The successful candidate will have:

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience shipping successful hardware products. 
  • Superior communication skills both written and verbal and intuition for communication strategy. Ability to present to leadership and external audiences.
  • Experience using and integrating collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Asana, etc.). 
  • Passion for AMP Robotics and what we are trying to achieve in waste recycling. 
  • Ability to engage with engineering technically, beyond just product and user experience needs; you can help design scalable and extensible solutions and create detailed product specs, and you will need to work closely with engineering to ensure plans are feasible.
  • Comfort with technical writing, in support of proposals, grants, and good documentation.
  • Comfort with spreadsheet modeling.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit thriving in a fast-growing startup environment; you live to get things done!

Preferred:

  • Experience and exposure to hardware and software product management.
  • Experience and comfort with fast-moving development cycles and requirements.
  • Experience with Federal CRADAs or awards (e.g. DOE grants)
  • Experience with Pro Formas, techno-economic assessments, lifecycle assessments, or mass flow (graph) modeling.
  • Track-record of working effectively across different departments to bring products from idea to installation. Success across either the product lifecycle or the asset development lifecycle.

Travel Requirements: This person can expect an average of ~30% annual travel.

Salary & Compensation Information: $120,000 - $160,000 per year

Equity Grant:  The candidate selected for this role will be recommended for a stock option grant commensurate with the position and the candidate’s qualifications.

  • Medical - The company covers up 85% to 100% of the premium for Cigna medical healthcare plans depending on the selection. Employees pay the difference in premium if they select a more expensive plan. Up to 75% for dependents.
