THE OPPORTUNITY
Arcturus is seeking a highly motivated and scientifically skilled individual who can contribute to a high-functioning bioanalytical team. The incumbent must have a strong background in cell biology, bioanalytical assay development, translational biology, drug development, and be familiar with standard biochemical, cell and molecular biology techniques and pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. The candidate should have experience working in a matrixed organization and will be a strong scientific innovator in the Bioanalytical Development group in the Department of Translational Biology, Exact title and responsibilities will be commensurate with experience.
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Be a thought leader in innovative assay development to support new therapeutic targets
- Develop, optimize and troubleshoot bioanalytical assays
- Be a technical lead in study design, conduct, interpretation, and integration of data on cross-functional project teams
- Work cross functionally to improve and optimize Arcturus's proprietary LNP nucleic acid delivery platform
- Work with CROs on method transfer, development, troubleshooting, qualification, validation and reports to support discovery and development programs.
- Present results at internal and external meetings or conferences
- Regularly interact with the Senior Director and Project Lead(s) on all assigned projects
- Represent Bioanalytical on Development teams as needed
- Develop and oversee pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic assays for nonclinical and clinical programs
- Work with PK consultants and provide PK/PD support for toxicology and clinical studies
- Contribute to patent and/or publication preparation
- Contribute to regulatory submissions
- Build upon personal publication record and contribute to departmental internal and external influence.
WHAT WE SEEK
- PhD in Biology, Chemistry Science, or related discipline
- Minimum of 10+ years of industry experience in biotech or biopharma companies or contract research organizations
- Proficient in standard bioanalytical techniques, such as ELISA, q-PCR, Western Blot, Quantigene, Ligand Binding assays, LC-MS/MS, immunochemistry and reporter assays
- Proficient in assay development and qualification
- Experience with cell-based assay development, RNA technology, immunofluorescence, high content imaging, automation, and statistical evaluation of large data sets is required
- Experience in Liposome or LNP-mediated delivery and gene therapy is a plus
- Experience with RNA therapeutics
- Experience with tissue distribution and nonclinical PK analyses required
- Experience with nonclinical and clinical pharmacology preferred
- Experience in the design and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo PK/PD and tissue distribution studies to evaluate the activities of LNP-nucleic acid delivery, investigate of mechanisms of action of drug delivery, and demonstrated ability to explore and execute of novel therapeutic hypotheses.
- Ability to investigate, select, and/or develop new methods and technologies for LNP screening.
- Management experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to execute experiments under tight timelines
- Excellent communication skills, ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Effective time management and organization skills; meticulous record keeping skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and collaborate with scientists in a highly dynamic environment
- Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft® Excel, Word, PowerPoint, JMP,LIMS etc., and with standard laboratory calculations.
- Experience with WinNonLin or other PK modeling software a plus
- Working in a biohazard laboratory or other laboratories known to contain radioactive or other potentially harmful chemicals.
- Continuous sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to operate keyboard, equipment controls, pipetting and other office equipment.
- Frequent side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials; lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting.
- Occasional squatting, kneeling, reaching above and at shoulder height, moderate grasping to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20-35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
- This position requires working in a dynamic laboratory environment and potentially coordinating the activities of laboratory personnel.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego is $134,000.00 to $177,100.00.
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Arcturus Therapeutics is multi state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
