Senior Scientist, Vector Process Development, Upstream

The Role:

ElevateBio is looking for a Sr. Scientist, Vector Process Development, Upstream. The Vector Upstream group will lead the translation of process development to cGMP compliant manufacturing using state of the art technology. This position is responsible for the upstream process development for viral vectors as well as novel technology evaluation, and also supporting Research to PD transition as well as tech transfer to GMP activities. The successful candidate will perform and/or drive cell line development, upstream development, scale-up and scale-down, and technology transfer at various scales.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Lead the cell line development, upstream process development and scale up for viral vectors (LVV, AAV, etc) as well as the tech transfer into GMP.
• Perform data analysis and related activities, test to improve process related to productivity, quality or scalability. Proficient in DoE for upstream development and statistical analysis.
• Communication with cross-functional teams as well as clients. Prepare presentations to management teams, cross-functional teams as well as external clients or conferences.
• Authorize and train team members for PD and tech transfer documentations, including but not limit technical reports, development reports, SOPs, internal and external presentations, etc.
• Manage several upstream scientists and/or associates for day-to-day lab activities, such as equipment set-up, SOP generation, and routine maintenance.

Requirements:

• PhD in biological science, chemical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of industry experience, including hand's on experience with mammalian cell line development, cell culture procedures, solid theoretical background in cell biology and molecular biology, and demonstrated scientific excellence.
• Excellent scientific writing skills are highly desired.
• Experience in bench-top to 200L STR bioreactors and familiar with scaling up/tech transfer are required; experience with viral vectors preferred.
• Experience in DoE and statistical analysis is required.
• Motivated to work collaboratively with colleagues in ElevateBio's therapeutic development areas in a fast-paced environment for novel platform technology and therapeutic development.
• This position is a full on-site role and requires significant presence in the lab as well as some managerial responsibilities.
