Job Description

Apollo was born from open source, with one of the largest and most engaged communities in the GraphQL ecosystem. Today, we power some of the biggest names in tech. We’re seeing tremendous growth, and our mission is to continue providing developers with the best tools and services for building modern applications. Our success is driven by growth strategies, with engineers at the core of everything we do.

The Growth Team plays a key role in making sure customers experience a smooth onboarding process, easily subscribe to paid plans, and fully leverage Apollo’s product suite, including Apollo Router, Rover CLI, and various API strategies.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Growth team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering features that unlock new opportunities for user engagement and long-term value. You’ll be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, with plenty of room to influence technical decisions, product direction, and the experience of developers across the globe. From conceptualizing new features to implementing them across the stack, you’ll have a hand in shaping the future of our GraphOS platform.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement technical solutions that drive key business outcomes, focusing on improving user engagement, activation, and retention.
  • Work across Apollo’s entire product portfolio, suggesting and building new features and technical improvements that enhance user satisfaction and deliver long-term value.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to execute high-impact projects that align with the company's broader growth objectives.
  • Participate in a fast-paced, iterative environment where the ability to adapt and experiment is key to success.
  • Help cultivate a culture of experimentation, working on projects that support expansion into new markets and improve outcomes for existing customers.
  • Drive end-to-end development of new features, from ideation to production, leveraging our tech stack including Kotlin, Rust, React, TypeScript, and Postgres.

About You

  • You have experience working as a full-stack engineer with a focus on backend systems & infrastructure.
  • You have worked on engineering teams that focus on driving growth, user engagement, or product innovation.
  • You don’t shy away from ambiguity, and you enjoy identifying opportunities to drive business impact through technical solutions.
  • You’re comfortable working with various programming languages and technologies, including one or more of the following: Kotlin, Rust, or Java.
  • You have a strong sense of ownership and are excited about contributing to key business goals through the work you do.
  • You’re highly collaborative and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to bring new features to life.
  • Bonus points if you’ve worked with developer-facing tools, or have experience building SaaS products.

At Apollo, we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation whilst ensuring consistency within the team in each country. We make hiring decisions based on your skills, experience, and our overall assessment of what we learned during the hiring process. In addition to the U.S. base salary range, we also provide equity and benefits.

Apollo offers all U.S. employees a choice of 3 Anthem Blue Cross medical plans and California residents can also choose from an additional 2 Kaiser medical plans. Dental and Vision benefits are provided by Sun Life Financial.

Location: This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere in the United States or Canada.
