Senior Staff Scientist

As a key part of the new product introduction process, you will work on research projects that exit feasibility and pass the Decision to Commercialize checkpoint into commercially released products. The senior staff scientist will initiate, plan, and execute experiments and studies related to reagent development. You sit at the critical nexus of Research, Bioinformatics, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Process Development, Manufacturing, Technical Support, Product Marketing, Sales, Logistics and Product Management. The candidate must have a broad working knowledge of molecular biology and assay development. Previous product development experience as demonstrated by significant contributions to launched products is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• New Product transfer
• Scale up R&D processes and equipment to meet production requirements. This includes conducting Verification and Validation activities and Equipment Installation Qualification, Operation Qualification, and Performance Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
• Conduct guard-banding studies to set production parameters 
• Transfer and/or develop QC Methods and Production Batch Records
• Finalize Bill of Materials and Transfer to Manufacturing
• Specify raw material acceptance criteria and specifications
• Finalize User Guides and transfer to Technical Support
• Partner with Manufacturing on Alpha Builds for testing and Early Access programs
• Develop and execute product stability and shipping stability test plans
• Partner with Product Marketing and Sales to provide data as needed to ensure successful product launch
• Process Optimization
• Work with QC and Production teams to make process improvements that will improve product quality, improve production yield, and reduce production time and cost
• Work with QC and Production to scale up existing processes to meet increased product demand. This includes development, implementation, and qualification of automated equipment
• Troubleshooting
• Use customer complaint, QC and Production data to troubleshoot issues that impact product quality and/or production efficiency

Required Skills:

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
• Proficient with statistical analysis software such as JMP
• Proficient with Google Suite or related software
• Understanding of microfluidics and gel bead manufacturing
• Experience in vendor management
• Experience in precision injection molding

Education and Experience:

• Masters or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics or equivalent
• At least 5 years of industry experience, with at least 2 years of development experience
• Demonstrated success in developing and optimizing molecular biology assays
• In depth knowledge of molecular and analytical techniques such as qPCR, nucleic acid manipulation and characterization, enzyme activity assays, NGS, flow cytometry, microscopy, HPLC, spectroscopic techniques

We're excited to provide a competitive annual compensation package ranging from $140,000 to $200,000 for this role. The salary range listed in this job posting represents the minimum and maximum salary targets for new hires across all US locations. The final offer you receive will be influenced by your experience, skills, education, work history, geographical location, and the prevailing market conditions. Please note that this salary range is open to negotiation, ensuring that your unique qualifications are recognized and valued.
