What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA, and with that the tax obligations of the APAC group are increasing. With a desire to 'Make Tax Painless' by 2026, there is now a need for another specialist for the Asia Pacific region to join our team. The next bullet points will give you a flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

• Drive and deliver the quarter end and year end tax effect accounting process;
• Spearhead the Australian compliance tasks and resolve complex tax matters within a timely manner
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and / or develop strategies to establish new processes to manage Australian tax compliance and advice. This will include implementing technology and setting up internal controls / process documentation to make tax audits truly painless
• Prepare responses to tax audits / reviews within the APAC region as they arise
• Identify solutions for critical business needs, including drafting and delivering technical advice

You're probably a match if

• Degree level qualification in a relevant field, CA/CPA qualified or equivalent qualification
• Experience preparing corporate tax effect accounting / tax provisioning calculations in accordance with IFRS (US GAAP knowledge is an asset, but not essential)
• Strong writing skills and business acumen with problem-solving creativity and commercial judgement
• Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and within agreed deadlines
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
• Self motivated with a desire to learn
• Experience with OneSource Tax Provision tooling would be an asset

Our Tax team's mission, is to modernise a traditional tax cost centre into "Tax-as-a-Partner" to 'protect and serve' the business, the needs of our employees, our investors, global Government and Tax Authorities where we operate, and ultimately the users of Canva's amazing product.
