Senior Taxonomy Strategist

Our team oversees the programs and internal platforms that enable this and partners with marketing sales and analytics to plan and iterate on them.

Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a senior-level Taxonomy Strategist who has experience with and passion for bringing structure to large-scale disparate databases and vocabularies that support the many unique attributes of content products and tactics. Your experience includes implementing best practices and driving adoption of taxonomies. The taxonomies this person develops will support content metadata that can be both technical and creative in nature with a goal of supporting content reuse across the enterprise. You will be responsible for scoping creating and maintaining data dictionaries controlled vocabularies schema governance and data integrity/enforcement.

Collaborating with cross-functional partners the ideal candidate will be confident in making informed decisions. They possess the communication skills to successfully advocate for and gain acceptance of new taxonomy-related processes and governance policies. You will work closely with the creative operations platform Engineering and Marketing teams to define develop maintain and govern common taxonomies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create taxonomic models data models data flow diagrams vocabulary standards and metadata management designs to business priorities
• Own and steward our taxonomy & metadata cross-functionally effectively collaborating with stakeholders including product managers engineers data scientists content strategists and other relevant teams to gather requirements and implement taxonomies effectively that drive business product and customer outcomes
• Map content metadata between systems to support data initiatives and increase efficiency
• Query and analyze search data to support strategic metadata decisions
• Reconcile disparate taxonomies and metadata across teams.
• Ensure metadata is defined such that its integrity will not be compromised by cultural or discipline-based bias.
• Work with subject matter experts to define workflows and standards for metadata application.
• Lead taxonomy projects from conception to implementation including designing classification systems creating tagging guidelines and establishing governance processes
• Evaluate and enhance existing taxonomies and metadata models making iterative improvements based on user feedback data analysis and evolving industry trends
• Conduct research and analysis to identify user needs business goals and industry best practices ensuring taxonomies align with these factors
• Collaborate with user research and data analytics teams to test and optimise taxonomies for improved search results discoverability and user satisfaction
• Provide guidance and support to content creators / curators and operational teams to ensure accurate and consistent application of taxonomies and metadata
• Advocate for the value of taxonomies and structured data across the organisation promoting their benefits and educating stakeholders on best practices and achieving buy-in for new taxonomy-related processes and governance policies
• Stay up to date with industry trends emerging technologies and advancements in information organisation and incorporate relevant insights into taxonomy strategies

The offered salary starts at 3.000 EUR/month depending on previous experience.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 4+ years of experience in a Taxonomist Library management or similar role.
• Experience with large content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Sitecore Oracle CX IBM Customer Experience Drupal etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of controlled vocabularies classification data mapping ontologies (relationship of terms) and taxonomies (hierarchy).
• Proven ability to create develop and manage taxonomies for complex websites with cross-functional business partners.
• Logical and analytical with a strong attention to detail and adherence to overall strategy as well as good communication skills and the ability to influence others.
• Proven experience managing complex matrices and processes
• Strong focus on process improvement and quality
• Strong collaboration within large complex organizations
• Ability to conceptualize business problems execute solutions and present findings in a simple manner
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience assessing user needs (through use cases journey maps evaluation of analytics data and UX research) developing sitemaps doing content audits creating metadata maps and structuring content.
• Experience analyzing large volumes of data from analytics tools (Adobe Analytics) and multiple databases and making data-driven decisions to define navigation product assortment and increased discoverability.
• Solid understanding of user experience search engine optimization (SEO) information architecture knowledge organization metadata and descriptive cataloging.
• Knowledge of AEM components templates and functionality
• Experience with analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics
• Master’s degree in information management or library science
