Job Description
The Senior UX Writer is a strategic and creative problem solver passionate about understanding user needs and developing clear, consistent, in-app copy across enterprise software platforms that serve financial professionals.
This role is focused on developing content strategy, information hierarchies, and standardizing UI copy that helps users understand, learn, and navigate the products. The Senior UX Writer understands the value of user research, thoughtful content, and the importance of voice and tone; and can edit and revise copy for clarity and accessibility while continuously looking for opportunities to improve the user experience.
This role defines the application content styles, reflects the voice and tone of the FactSet brand, and collaborates with UX & UI designers, user researchers, content creators, and product teams to understand user needs, define problems to solve, and translate technical information into digestible, understandable across product applications.
The UX writer is a gifted written and verbal communicator who is passionate about language. They are a self-confident and self-motivated UX practitioner who starts with empathy, seeks to understand, and approaches collaborative problem solving with curiosity and an open mind.
Responsibilities:
Plan, write, and deliver clear, relevant UI copy consistent with FUSION design system voice & tone
- Partner with UX leadership to establish and implement voice & tone for FactSet applications
- Collaborate with SMEs and technical writers to clarify business terminology relevant to users
- Design information architecture content hierarchies and optimal navigation wording
- Collaborate with UX Research to get feedback from various user types to validate content decisions
- Audit in app-content inconsistencies and identify need and standardize language for patterns such as: Calls to Action, Notifications/Alerts, Error messaging, Abbreviations, Time/Date/Numerical formatting
- Publish guidelines to Design System website
- Work with product owners across the business to ensure content consistency is prioritized and executed
Standardize language and messaging on internal UX resources, and such as:
- FUSION Design System Pattern and component documentation
- UX "playbooks"
- Internal-facing UX informational web site
Evangelize the importance of consistent and effective language through:
- Presentations to UX and cross-functional teams
- Posting on internal communication channels
- Creating or sourcing eLearning modules for UX writing best practices
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in English, Communications, Journalism, User Experience Design, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 7-10 years of professional writing experience with a focus on UX and in-app content strategy
- A portfolio of writing samples demonstrating expertise in UI writing and UX thinking, along with examples or case studies on how you impacted change with content optimization
- Demonstrated experience designing information architectures, specifically in regard to content hierarchies
- Experience in a consultative, leadership and/or advisory role providing guidance and recommendations for UX content best practices
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and the role of content in inclusive experiences
- A deep understanding of user-centered methodologies, UX principles and product development roles and processes
- Nice to have: Experience with design tools, like Figma
- Familiarity working in an agile environment, using Lean UX and Design Thinking methodologies
- A passion for the art and science of usability, learnability and the user experience
- Strong listening, written, verbal and presentation skills
- Success working independently and collaboratively, with multiple stakeholders and team members
The budgeted salary range for this position in the states of Connecticut and New York is $123,200 - $164,000
